We saw at their last press conference a few weeks ago that Chisora was looking a bit trimmer than he usually does. Haye even said he looked good. Was just wondering what areas in training you think Chisora is focusing on? Might there be more emphasis on plyometrics to improve his upper body movement? A speed increase would be good for Dereck. If he was to be nimble on his feet, all the while still constantly coming at Haye it would be better than plodding - which would make him an easier target. I hope at the weigh in we can see a noticeable shed in fat and an increase in lean muscle. Anyone have any thoughts on how he should train/areas to improve (both boxing skills, and body development)
Haha I am neither a fan of Haye or Chisora. Just thought I would ask cos we know how Haye will look - in excellent shape, as usual. But I am looking forward to the fight.
In seriousness, I hope that he trains at a level that has far surpassed anything that he has ever done. I think that his only realistic chance is to put so much pressure on David that it will cause him to gas and start sucking air through his external anal sphincter. That will require a very high level of stamina and a level of quickness beyond what he has shown.
As long as he is around 240-245. Haye was a little turned on by thin Dereck and even said he wanted to see "if Dereck could have a six pack." David Gaye.
I hope he spends his entire time working on footwork, closing down the ring and doubling up the jab... because if he goes in expecting to be able to walk down Haye like he did to Helenius and Vitali, two 1 armed fighters with no footwork, he will get turned inside out and embarrassed like he did the last time he fought a half decent boxer with mobility
If his corner has any brains, their training him to cut the ring off, and fight against Haye's chest. He needs to JAB his way in first, and step with the jab, like a spear; used as a defensive mechanism. Get close. He then needs the physical power, and awareness in terms of footwork to cut off Haye's escape routes. Keep his hands high to avoid pot shots and counter hooks, and dig hard to the body. Take Haye's legs away. Use his elbows, punch Haye on the hips, stand on his feet. Anything to rough him up. Only way he has a chance in my eyes.
He listens a little more than given credit for. Re-watched him fight Vitali, what Don Charles would ask of him, between rounds; he'd go out and try to implement that. I'd of sat him down before the fight was signed, and told him that he could win, but he'd need to trust me, and listen to me. If he agreed then great, if not then it'd be sionara. :hi:
he said that if Haye comes out with an excuse after the fight, he will walk over to him and kill him, so a 9mm at close-range will suit him perfect :rofl
