I don't think Canelo is fighting Cotto in NYC, especially with the tax situation in NY. If that's the announcement, you'd figure GBP would learn a lesson about announcing a big fight before a supposed 'tune-up' ie Ortiz/Josesito Lopez.
While I agree Top Ranks undercards are usually shitty, at least we get to watch the whole card including the empty arena openers, if you watch on TopRank TV.
I sincerely hope you work for Golden Boy, and you just anonymously leaked this information :hail awesome idea from top to bottom :thumbsup
I bet its Mayorga vs. Canelo and then Cotto in December vs Floyd. Winner of that will take on Canelo. They'll likely pit Lara and Trout as well now that they both are with Haymon.
My god is Mayorga still relevant to casual fans, because that's the only reason I can see making that fight. I really hope you're wrong about Canelo vs Mayorga Gabe, that fight would be such bull**** I wouldn't even want to watch the replay. Yes I'll be spending my money on watching the true Middleweight Champion of the world, taking out the silver-spooned hype-job that I believe JCC Jr. to be. I will say this though, if Jr. is able to dethrone Martinez I will give him the credit he would deserve.
Ah, fair enough. I thought the Arum date was only signed after GBP announced the Canelo card. Definitely a mistake on both their parts. Neither fighter will get as much attention as they should be getting. Yet again, boxing fans lose out too.
I wouldn't put too much into that. Oscar is second to only Gabe Montoya when it comes to announcing that they will announce big things and not delivering or delivering with things that ain't "big" at all.
At first he thought he had the nerve worked up to announce he was coming out of the closet. After he chickened out a few times he decided if he did it a few more times he could make his announcement and nobody would be listening. I'm pretty sure that's what's going on here. Like it is some kinda secret after the photos emerged.
