still not sure how one has a body like thompsons...when all you really have to do for you job is stay in shape...or will do one better...not stay in shape, just get in wlad type shape since you kinda work at a place where you "work out" (all day) and get PAID for it..if he didnt do a ****ing thing (which he didnt) in the last 4 years earning this title shot, he should at least come in looking like he was a damn threat.....pathetic

man i almost felt bad it was so quiet in there...kinda pointless for a stare down, both are nice guys and have to put in effort to even pretend there is some dislike for one another somewhere

Yeah, it's become the obligatory part of procedings. I just hope Thompson comes to fight tonight and puts up an effort. I have a feeling he's come for the payday.

Wlad is still under 250, this might be a scary weight for him. He looks jacked.

This is a **** fight but for Wlad to vacant the belt he would need to fight a star instead and there are no stars out there, just regular folks.

Maybe Seth Mitchell or Boystov will prove to be something special but fighting them now is the same as fighting Chambers back in 2010.

I guess the best fight at this point for Wlad would be against Alexander Povetkin, he is the most proven one and holds a regular version of WBA belt.

Maybe if Chisora shocks the world by knocking out David Haye, that fight would be interesting.

I would rather Wlad face Price, Helenius or Fury than Thomson but this is not his fault. These guys should be active and fighting better opponents to become mandatory.

The problem is no one can become a star because Wlad (sometimes Vitali) ruins them before it can happen, then they become "exposed hypejobs." This is testament to their dominance and not the "sad state of the heavyweight division."

How do you become a star when your only weight division has a dominant long-time champ you have to fight before you can become one? It's not an issue for the lower weight divisions because one can establish himself in a weight division without a dominant champ, become a star, and move up a couple pounds to another division that has a dominant champ already. If boxing fans had a clue, they'd understand that the heavyweight division is different from all others. The only mobility is from cruiser to heavy, and cruiser is such a third-tier division by default as it's a bunch of guys too small or lacking in confidence to go up a pound and become heavies.

There can only be concurrent stars at heavyweight when a rare prominent cruiserweight comes up like Holyfield (Haye if he had fought decent competition before losing to Wlad), or the stars avoid eachother: then one is criticized for ducking (Lewis/Bowe).

Thats because those guys are so slowly moving up in rankings. Seth Mitchell could be fighting Arreola, Solis, Chambers, Adamek, Thomson ect and by beating those guys he would become a star. He aint gonna be a star if he beats Chazz Whiterspoon. Some may say that he needs to gain experience otherwise he will get beat. I think if he gets beat by someone like Arreola, he would never be a star anyways.
