All the brits after the Brooks-Hatton fight. There was a thread where me, Doc and another one of m country man were arguing with the britts about this. The majority of the responses were that Brooks would clearly pick Canelo apart. We were definitely in the minority backing up Canelo.

Brook showed decent chin and heart when needed: those were the positives. He was able to grind out the win (with a broken nose) against a highly-rated (not top-class) opponent. He looked gassed at the end of the 7th but survived, possibly winning the 10th or 11th round.

However, the fight raised big questions, primarily about his stamina. And although not a puncher as such, I think some people including myself were a little surprised that his best punches couldn't really halt Jones (who fought a very good fight), who for the most part was able to walk through them.

Brook doesn't like taking punches: at one stage (around 4th-5th round) he looked to have Jones under pressure but when caught with an uppercut backed away quickly. Maybe surviving this experience may give him more confidence to take some punishment in order to give it (esp if going for the KO) and he did take shots better later in the fight, but I don't think he will ever be a fighter to walk through punches.

Brook still has a big future in the sport, this fight could be just what he needed, another Hatton type fight or early KO would have papered over the cracks. He at least knows what to work on now in the future (stamina, keeping fighters off him) and will not underprepare in future (cant afford to). This fight could really prove invaluable in the future. A new trainer/cornermen would help also to take him to the top level. Some question-marks remain but deserves to be ranked highly still.

    Pretty? No Homo Bro.

Of course not exactly, just saw a bit of pressure and the body work and I gotta say its what canelo loves doing, of course with other added skills but you get my drift lol

IMO... I saw a bit of that in there is all i'm saying. :D

Jones tapped that ass though... and Brook got UK Saved.

Only thing is Peterson didn't beat Khan, he had the zombie walk on for nearly three rounds, and Khan out pointed him the last three rounds... Peterson can't box for ****.

Khan had a lot more natural talent than Brook I dont think Brook would improve much at all even if he went the same route. He doesn't seem to have any tools that you would consider standout. His speed & power are both mediocre....dude today walked straight through Brook's best and then smashed his face in!!!!

Its Jones corner is at fault he lost IMO, they should have pinched Jones early on in the fight, told him Brooks was cracking 'yo momma' jokes about his ma or slapped him around in the face a bit, if Jones had woke up just one round earlier Brooks would have got his lights turned out in the 10th or 11th easily..

I give Brook credit for surviving those last 6 rounds. . . He was gassed as a mother in those championship rounds. . . Really from about the 8th onward. . .

Jones doesn't have world class power, but he can crack better than the average bear, and Brook showed some nice upper body movement to roll with a lot of those shots. .

He proved he has some survival instincts, at least a decent chin, toughness, and some heart. . Of course this was against Carson Jones. . But still, a lot of up and comers in Brook's place would hvae been folded up by the 10th. . .

Still Amir KHAAAAAN (and he's knocking 'em out), Amir KHAAAN (lemme hear ya shout) will pummel Brook.

Brook just fought the wrong fight after boxing superbly early on
Really stupid to judge him just on this fight
He made mistakes decided to go toe to toe and fight Jones`s fight and paid the price and was lucky there was not another round or he would have been stopped

Great fight from Jones deserves a rematch
But Brook will improve I love the way he puts combinations together
If he sticks to his boxing and improves his stamina with a good conditioning coach he gives a lot of fighters nightmares

Brooks dominated for 6 rounds. His punching, combinations were top class, quality stuff. After seeing Jones take it all he seemed to lose heart, and tired big time. Fought through it all, including a broken nose and did enough to win it, by two rounds in my opinion. All the tools are there. Clearly displayed great heart, a solid chin and the desire to get through it. Needs to work on conditioning and his apparent willingess to stand still and take punishment on the inside with his hands down around his waist is baffling. Seems to think his head movement is enough to get him out of trouble in those situations, but it's clearly not. He was eating uppercuts on the inside all night long.

Still think he can go a long way. There's a lot of people here who will see this as 'proof' that he's not cut out for World Class level. If I were him I'd take encouragement from the fact that I got through that tough a fight, and did what it took to win. His conditioning was a major factor in the way the fight turned. All fighters face a truly tought test at some point in their career and he did what it took to get past it. Also, he's unlikely to face too many guys as tough and resilient as Jones during his career.

Also, I'd question the tactics of Brooks' corner. All the way they were saying 'It's all about the first 6 rounds' and sure enough, Brook switched off after round 6, the fight turned straight after that. If you're mentally conditioning your fighter to perform at a higher level for the first 6 rounds only, you're going to have this kind of thing happen. Stupid.
