The scoring was too one sided - yes...I don't think Donaire is being overrated, though. The guy has incredible coordination and pretty good power (great at 115). I won't knock the guy for not putting on his best performance against an awkward fighter...Get the W, look good next time.

That fight was not close. The Cotto vs. Mayweather fight was way closer and less impressive.

 

I haven't seen the fight so I'll go with someone whose opinion I can usually trust.
Because Donaire hasn't scaled the heights many were expecting,there's always gonna be shrapnel flying his way after unspectacular performances.It seems clear he's not carrying his power up and if he doesn't start producing crowdpleasing performances,Arum's going to have to face the court of public opinion.
And that means Rigo,and just because I think Rigo might beat him,doesn't mean I hate Donaire.
I've never been in doubt that Donaire was overrated.The Montiel KO might have harmed him more than helped in the long run.Nishioka will give us a good idea of how far he can go.
And just because he's overrated,does not mean I don't rate him,so you can put the swords back in their sheaths.

I thought it was clear who was better and who was in control in there. Matheluba fought scared from the moment Donaire connected in the first round.

Matheluba showed resilience and that he could box, but there was one guy in charge there.

This is just my opinion but Donaire's biggest weakness is his lak of patience. He head hunted too long as a result of underestimating how tough Matheluba was. Soon as he settled down from about RD10 he looked excellent again. If you can afford to lose a couple rounds because the guy your fighting basically can't hurt you that much then yeah, it's pretty clear who won to me.


Also, I don't think he's lost his power. Matheluba became that much more evasive after rd1 and again the impatience factor and the headhunting as opposed to carefully breaking Math down is where he lost the KO win
Gotta love Donaire's self belief, just needs to learn a little discipline when in the ring.
