It seems if though the HBO crew has their mind made up on who is going to win before the fight happens. SMH

In the PAC vs Bradley fight, The HBO cast sucked PAC's dick the entire fight. It didn't matter if PAC landed or missed, they went crazy every time he punched. They even counted punches that didn't land.

At the end of the fight, the punch stat showed that Pac landed 253 punches to 159 punches for Bradley and the whole HBO staff had Pac winning in a shutout (Which was completely ridiculous).

But in the Donaire fight, Mathebula outpunched Donaire by more than 400 punches (919-515) and connected on 80 more (231-151). And that same HBO cast had Donaire winning pretty much every round.

I'm not saying that Mathebula won the fight, but it was much closer than the scores resembled. If you go by the same standards in the PAC Vs Bradley fight, then you have to say Mathebula won the fight, he out punched and out landed.

Also I heard Max Kellerman say during the Donaire fight that Donaire landed the harder shots and more power shots. Well a power shot is anything other than a jab and my second question is how the **** DO THEY KNOW HOW HARD A PERSON HITS (Can they feel the punches?) Donaire face was pretty busted up yesterday yet he won in a shutout out!

The bottom line is that when HBO got their mind made up, they got their mind made up!

If you are from the Philippines, all you have to do is throw punches. The crowd goes crazy and the judges go blind. It must be nice to be so popular that your performance doesn't have to be that good. HBO definitely has their picks and chooses on who they want to win regardless of what's happening in the ring. I will never forget Lampley creaming himself in the Pacquiao-Clottey fight.

HBO is looking for that KO artist that captures the imagination.
So if they can't get it, They create the atmosphere. "Bang!, Bang!"

HBO was absolutely awful last night. Pavlik didn't look good, but that fight wasn't close and HBO thought Rosinsky won more rounds than he possibly could have. Donaire didn't look good, and he only won 114-113, 115-112 at best. HBO is more interested in working PR than objectively breaking down fights. Worst commentary this side of the Atlantic.

It was like watching a ****ing kickboxing match in SE Asia: crowd systematically makes noise every time their fighter connects with anything. Donaire looked like a sloppy drunken amateur who thinks he's a knockout puncher and isn't.

Did OP really question the difference between watching a jab land versus watching a power punch land?

Outside of Kellerman, I thought the HBO crew did a good job last night. Papa had it a really close fight, and mentioned that he thought the judges scored it too wide. Lederman's card wasn't bad either.

Yes I did. The technical definition of a "Power punch", is anything other than a jab. So a slapping hook with no power on it is considered a "Power Punch". There were rounds in the Donaire fight, that donaire only landed like 4 "Power Punches" by definition but Mathebula landed like 16 jabs, which ultimately busted up his face. So how do you say that Donaire won a round where he was punched 10-20 more times?

My question is how do Boxing so called experts and judges disregard "jabs"? I thought that a jab is a scored punch.

You can just use your eyes to see how hard a punch is. Froch was hitting Bute harder, Quillen was hitting Wright harder, Wlad hit Haye harder, Pacquiao hit Bradley harder, Tyson hit McNealy harder. Busted face is not hard to accomplish by the way. The guy that is getting bombs landed on him rarely marks up seeing as he is getting blasted right on the button with precision shots not just irritating the skin of the other guys face with leather. I will let you throw 30% power jabs at me for 10 minutes and then I will throw 2 heavy hooks to the jaw and we'll see whose face is more red.

You're right about power punches. However, it is exactly the judges job to determine which shots were the most effective and score accordingly. It's not just about counting punches. All punches were not created equal.

MAn I not going to get in a verbal war with you, but it you think you can visually tell who landing the harder shots then you must be an XMEN.

I agree that when Tyson fought McNealy he was hitting him harder because he was controlling the fight. If he wasn't controlling the fight then Mike would of been constantly landing punches. Wlad did hit Haye harder because Haye ****** ass wasn't punching. But in the Bradley fight, I didn't see anybody hit harder than the other. Bradley landed some great shot to Pac's body and Pac landed some great shots to Bradley head, but either one of them was in so much terrible you thought they were going to fall.

My answer to your crazy comment "

First of all young man we are talking about boxing, not street fighting. In a three minute round, if you hit me with two left hooks which are considered "Power shots" no matter how hard they land and I control the action of the fight with ten jabs, then I believe I won the round. I mean if you hit me with one of your two hooks and it leaves me dazed, then its a different story. But if I take your hooks and not be raddled, then get to stick that jab in your face 10 times compared to your two hooks then you dam right I won that round.

I totally understand where you come from, but a jab is the most important punch in boxing. If a person can consistently land a jab, he has a strong chance of controlling and dictating the fight. I just hate when judges disregard jabs. I see far too many times in boxing where one fighter throws all power punches "Anything but a jab no matter the power" and he gets more credit then the fighter who constantly sticks his ass with a jab.

I box before, and I been hit with a jab that feels like a ****in Right Cross.
