Pavlik is he relevant anymore

Kelly is done at the elite level IMO. He'd make a big name scalp for some of the big boys at 168. I think Dirrell should chase the fight, and would likely completely school him.

 

He's somewhat relevant because he still has a fan base and he could still be in some entertaining fights. I have a hard time seeing him beat the top guys at 168 though. He should try and face a guy in the bottom half of the top 10 like Rodriguez or Abraham, to see if he has any chance at all of making some waves.

Maybe he faces some lower-tier guys and hangs around 'til Chavez Jr inevitably moves up in weight?

 

He is highly relevant to one top guy at 168 for a W over a big name.

Beyond that, no, not based on what I've seen, especially last night.

 

He's relevant as long as they match him carefully. That means, no fights against the elites in the division. I'd still like to see him fight Abraham. You could sell that fight.

 

I'm going on the theory that they used tainted ink and Pavlik is suffering from ink poisoning.

 

Pavlik is very much a player in the SM division. He would beat Stieglitz( WBO champ) , and give Froch all he could handle , so of course he is relevant.

 

He is not a player at elite level. Kelly just needs to keep fighting on the club circuit for his beer money:good

 

HaHa ok. Pavlik is a former champion who has never been stopped, is easily a top 10 SM, and would give Froch nightmares .... I hope that fight happens.

 

at world peak hell no. but as far as entertaining boxing matches with good opponents hell yeah.

who cares if he beats ward or gets beaten. I care about hardcore wars and kelly vs mikkel/adonis or froch would present that and he might even have a chance to win 1-2 from those 3 bouts.

 

I haven't seen anything to suggest Pavlik could hang with Froch, let alone give him nightmares. He could start by beating a 168lb'er that I've heard of.

 

He can still sell tickets. He should stay away from pure slick boxers like Dirrell. The blue print to beat Pavlik was written by Hopkins. Stick and move, flurry, shoe shine and get on your bicycle.

 

keep dreaming. Kelly was relevant at160 pounds a few years back. Grandpa Hopkins took something away from Kelly. Some fighters can't handle defeat like Kelly has shown. Froch is a different animal altogether a genuine tough guy who is mentally strong:good

 

I just can't see it happening.He doesn't seem able to make 160 and that was always the key.
The only alternative I could see would be a serious attempt at tweaking his style,and given the upright nature of his strengths,I'm not sure a more anticipatory style is within his reach.His jab doesn't seem to have the same sting and unless he can get it going and start drawing mistakes followed by properly punishing them,I think we're always going to look at Pavlik and say "Ah Pavlik,the working class hero who pissed it all away"

pavlik is improving still and adapting to more boxing style then brawling. u gotta look at what the opponent is and what he does,and not just what pavlik does. his opponent was very good man.just because he doesent hold a belt doesent mean his not that good. tyson,mayweather...... was just as good as before they got a belt.its about having the right promotor who can get u the fights and build you up. rosinsky is a clever boxer with good overall skills,and still few fights. I also belive thath it is hard for pavlik to really get up and be max motivated for a fight thath is not with a big name and big moneyfight. I still think thath we have to wait and see have pavlik does with a big name opponent in the future before we wrie him off, if he can get a fight thath he knows will put him back in the mix and thath will motivate him,hell show up!
