Was Floyd Jr Criticized for his Performance against Augustus?

Yea, 2001 FOY. It was an amazing fight.

 

I have no idea, but he shouldn't have been criticized if he was. Burton (Augustus) was a tough fight for anyone, and his 9 loses didn't reflect how good he could be or how rawhide tough he is. And I'm just a normal fan (bigger fan of fighters like Froch, Broner, Pirog, Ward, Santa Cruz, Golovkin and Rios) I like Floyd and Manny both.

It's true. He was ****ed by judges so many times it was ridiculous.

it's cause Floyd was already young yet proven by that point vs champion level opposition....he won nearly every round and stopped Augustus who is a much better and higher regarded fighter than Carson Jones and he beat him in far more impressive fashion than Brook beat Jones. Also in his very next fight he fought a top 5 p4p fighter in Diego Corrales so if there were any haters he quickly shut them the **** up! This would be like Brook going straight for Cotto next fight and absolutely dominating him and stopping him to erase all doubts when we know he ain't stepping up to that level for a long time if ever. World of difference here, Augustus was the better fighter, floyd won more convincingly, floyd was proven before the fight happened and he fought a top ranked p4p fighter in his very next fight.....not even comparable.

Nuthugger lets wait for Brook to actually do something before comparing him to Mayweather.

 

Floyd didn't struggle, he whupped Augustus' ass.


Brook was being outfought and busted up. Huge difference.


Not to mention Floyd's accomplishments at the time far exceeded anything Brook had done. He hasn't been in with a B level fighter yet.

 

Burton would beat the **** out of Jones ad lose a SD. 2 different classes of C level comp as burton is a far more challange as a c level fighter than Jones is as a c level fighter
