Did anyone happen to catch Friday Night Fights? Well if you did, did you catch Teddy's rant about how he did not like Joe Cortez saying "I'm fair but I'm firm"? Teddy went on to say, when he does this, it takes attention away from the fighters and focuses the attention on him, what's up with that?! What's troubling to me is I like Teddy but sometimes I think he's the one who always makes it about himself! Teddy has a tendacy to turn into a trainer instead of just calling the fight. It was almost as if it was a personal thing, Iwonder if he takes issue with Buffer for his famous "let's get ready too rumbllllllle" quote? To make matters worse he pissed of his co-commentator!
agree 100% :good he is such a dick head. not to mention giant hypocrite. - pulling out a ****ing cell phone and his gay ass rant to michael moorer in between rounds - fights with news reporters where they had to be broken up...because they wrote something he didnt like about him or the person he was training - his gay rant to povetkin about the ghost of his dad watching some paper title fight so make him proud - tried to get into a fight with george foreman at a press con for moorer fight yeah teddy is an angry , miserable, jealous douche bag
@iceman I remember his rant to Michael Moorer in between rounds (I believe it was when he was fighting Foreman), I understand why he said what he said, but it was how he said it. I remember thinking to myself that he was talking to Moorer as if he were a 6 year old child! I really took issue with what he said Friday, because the very thing he maligned Cortez for, he does it all the time himself!
It's only about Teddy. The dude is mad and angry on every FNF and negative. I bet if Cortez decides to retire as a ref and become a trainer he will get more fighters than Teddy. They both should fight and the loser should leave the sport of boxing for good.
I agree. . . Haha but Atlas was so spot on in his analysis, because he did THE SAME THING as a trainer. . . And even as a color commentator, he wants to detract from his brainer colleagues, who have never "laced 'em up." It's the old cliche of the pot calling the kettle black . . . Trainers, and referees should not have egos, and be attention seeking.
Yeah, I hate the way he acts, and treats his colleagues at times. . . It's like he thinks his voice is the end all, and so much superior to his brainier colleagues. . I remember a few times, where he straight up demeaned them, and insulted them. . . And he'll try to act all hard, like he had some rough/tuff "street" upbringing. . . And was a world class/hall of fame trainer, and could have been a beast of a boxer "in his day."
a few eeks ago you could feel the tension between Atlas and Ozuna, then this friday he bashes Wladimir again, saying that he is recycling opponents leaving the casual fan to go on that alone. Thompson was the WBO mandatory, if Wladimir had not faced he would get stripped.
Personally I think Teddy is much worse than the refs or even the judges he maligns, sure he gets it right sometimes but to take issue with what Joe Cortez has been saying for year is plain petty. It makes you think something is going on between the two, afterall I've never heard Teddy take issue with Mills Lane for saying "Let's get it on"! I mean think about it, it takes Joe Cortez all of 1 second to say that, Teddy, you have the entire broadcast to give your commentary! So who's really trying to take attention from the fighters?!
Not to mention, it had been over four years since he last fought him, and not many of these new guys are too eager to try to get in the ring with Wladimir. . . Some have even outright said "we don't feel the time is right. . . " Thompson was a legitimate top contender, who steamrolled through his opponents, going 5-0 5 KO's since they last fought, and rightfully earned his position as the mandatory challenger, whom Wlad had to fight, or be stripped. Past HW's have fought guys a second time 4-5 years down the road, after KO'ing them the first time. . .
