as for the topic, lewis is a more complete and a better fighter no doubt, but i always thought that wlad would spark in 2-3 round that version of lewis which fought vitali, cause if vitali who is slower than wlad caught lewis clean in first two, three rounds in their fight, wlad who is a much bigger puncher than vitali would ko lewis if he lands his bombs like vitali did
prime for prime lewis ko wlad, but that version of lewis from the vitali fight, could get iced by wlad

Wlad is faster and hits harder than Vitali.

Wlad does have the speed and power to knock Lewis out early.

The problem is Wlad's modern version is usually very tentative in the beginning of the fight.

Vitali fights less cautious - he was able to land big punches on Lewis early cuz he is more willing to take risks in fights cuz of his confidence in his chin.

Wlad's safety-first approach may coast him dearly against Lewis who would try to turn the fight into a brawl as quick as possible.

I don't see why Wlad wouldn't adjust to that if that's the route Lennox takes. The odds would be in Lennox's favor in such a scenario, but Wlad's outbrawled guys before and knocked them out, too- the McCline fight, for example. Current Wlad boxes conservatively because nobody can even take rounds off of him, and he typically gets the stoppage anyways- but he was an attacking heavyweight (and successful at it) for at least half his pro career.

It is in Lennox's best interest to turn it into a brawl where he'd have the edge, but that still carries a big risk of a Wlad straight right or left hook knocking him out cold.

In a conservative matchup, Wlad's the more sound boxer of the two and has proven it against a wider variety of styles than Lennox did. So Lennox has to turn it into a fight and gun for the KO. Which he carries a good chance of getting because Lewis is damn good as well- but it's not nearly the certainty this thread might suggest.

Wladimir would probably knock him out. Even a 'prime Lewis' would be in serious danger of getting measured for a KO right. The 2003 Lewis would be wide open to be taken apart.

People hate to accept it, but Wladimir is just a more methodical version of the later-career Lennox Lewis that Manny Steward developed.
The Lewis that you all rave about.

Yes, he's even more boring than Lewis.
    Yes, he's even more cautious.
And, yes, he doesn't have the same 'variety' and arsenal.

He doesn't brawl and bully and get as 'physical' in the same way as Lewis, which some people seem to interpret as some sort of evidence that he's not a real fighter or he's mentally weak .... which is all B.S., imo .... it's because he's mastered the 'jab and grab, hit hard, dominate on the outside, and don't get hit' approach even better than Lewis did.

It's becoming more and more absurd to deny his greatness, or drag up his losses from way back in 2004 and earlier. Obviously he's matured a lot, mentally and technically.
In time, I think people will have to give him his due.

Wlad doesnt have reach or height over Lennox so half the stuff he does against other opponents wont work. Wlad will get sent to the ER if he tries to tie up lennox. Look what happened to Vitali and Michael Grant eveytime they got in a clinch with Lewis. They got their faces caved in.

Wlad has the better jab, Ill give you that, but its irrelevant because Lennox can beat you 3 different ways:

    Brawling: Vitali, Bruno
    Boxing: Holyfield, Tyson
    One shot Sniping: Rahman, Ruddock

Wlads tie up defense WILL NOT WORK ON LENNOX. The guy is a freak and can full power uppercut while in a clinch.

I agree that Lewis's inside game is likley to prove decisive.

Wladimir has mastered the clinch defense. It's wrong to compare him to Michael Grant or Vitali.
Lewis could be frustrated with a clinch if it comes to it. He can be tied up. IF that's what it needs.
But most likely this fight will be fought on the outside most of the time, and at quite a moderate pace. That would suit both men.

As much as I love Lewis, Wlad whips his ass in this one, either by UD or corner stoppage. Wlad's punch resistance and defense have improved drastically.

Who of any real quality has Wladimir beaten to suggest stopping Lewis in 2-3 rounds? He has been facing a line up of total tomato cans and generally stops them around rnd 9/10.

    Some of you are mental.

Yes, two or three rounds is not Wlad's M.O. However, Lummox, in his latter years was a bit shopworn. And Wlad had lost a mere handful of rounds over the last 7 years. I remember well how Lewis' oppostion and his own abilities were painted in the 90's. He was considered a weak champion in a poor era by many.

Listen, if Wladami is going to hide behind the jab early against the likes of Chagaev and Sultan Ibragimov he sure as **** isnt going to fire the slightest hint of a right hand in early against Lennox Lewis.

err... That was my point. The quick KO is not his modus operandi, or as some like to call it, M.O.

That said, Waldo was very quick to unleash his rich against Thompson, tho he head already bested him and most likely knew there was little risk.

    The ironic thing is

a Green Wlad would have stood a far bigger chance against that shot old past prime Lewis.

I honestly see that old past prime shot version of Lewis still knocking out Current Wladimir.

Wladimir would never have been prepared.. Lewis tko6

If Lewis landed that uppercut Wlads chin would completely disintegrate
