Because most of the **** on bodybuilding.com is by absolute 'brotards', whereas bodyrecomposition is from one of the most knowledgable guys around - Lyle McDonald.
So you're in college and still playing football? Are you D1 or D2? Is boxing something you want to do seriously or is it one of those things you just want to compete in?
www.bodyrecomposition.com is Lyle McDonald's site, the one I mentioned with Joel Jamieson at www.8weeksout.com. As far as bodyrecomposition.com, not to speak for JDSM, I have found to be more grounded in research, "user-friendly" for athletes, and overall better explained. Even his strength/muscle building articles I find to be very thorough. For me, www.8weeksout.com is my favorite with JDSM's suggestion 2nd. So we have now given you ideas where to look, so go do your own research. I think the first place you should start is understanding energy systems. Read bodyrecomposition thoroughly.
Was D1, transferred to D2 after I tore my ACL again and lost my scholarship. Have to sit out this year due to the rules, but I still plan on playing football, and still plan on competing in boxing eventually. And guys, I understand you're trying to help in regards to the physical aspect of boxing, but I like my current routine. I'm seeing good, consistent results with it, and I enjoy it.
That's good, then just keep doing it. If you stay in boxing long enough, you'll figure this one out on your own or you'll quit. Training for this sport is far different due to energy system demands. Good luck MURDR with your ACL, that's an awful injury and tough break. Impressive that you had a scholarship to a D1 school.:good
A lot of guys still make it to the NFL from D-2 schools. Tearing your ACL isn't going to help out a ton but it was it is. Obviously football is taking priority and that's fine man, condition the way you need to for football. The only thing you should take from this thread is that when you are able to seriously start boxing, that the training is going to be WAY different. Hopefully you've at least been made aware of that. Good luck with the football though.
I watched a lot of youtube videos the 1st month I started, including the ones from expert village. It wasn't until I started training more that I realized all the expert village videos I watched were useless. The ones from Title seem to be on point. I think training in an actual gym first and then trying to incorporate what I learned through the videos after having a base was a lot more helpful though. Not sure how legit these are considered to be on this forum, but I've found these sites helpful too. www.myboxingcoach.com www.expertboxing.com
Yeah, my ultimate goal is to make the NFL honestly, but with my injury history, I doubt it'd ever happen (but I will still try!). But I actually started boxing to get in better shape for football, and it was incredibly fun and I decided I wanted to compete. I know I'm extremely raw right now, and I'm shitty at best at the moment, but I like to think that tearing my ACL helped me realize how to really work hard (because I had to start from nothing and work back up), and I think with years of good training, I might be able to have some decent success with it. Left knee once, right knee twice. Couple of torn MCLs, tore both side of my menicuses on both knees, had a cyclops lesion, a bruised bone, osteoarthritis...basically, I ****ed my **** up for good. Yeah, found myboxingcoach the other day. Seems like one of the best out there on YT.
