This is the exact same **** people said about Oscar and Tyson. They aren't holding up **** so stop crying.
Nah bro i talk to a lot of people on a daily basis and about boxing, they dont like Floyd but they always tune in to.see him fight. And they always say he is too good and will probably will win but will watch anyway. They were still on the haterade when he fought Marquez and Mosley and didnt give him any credit. But now they realize his style is too sick. They along with boxing experts and analysts all over the world compare him to Ali and call him one of the greatests. This is coming from their mouths, not mine. The casuals understand he really does work the hardest and is the most skilled in the game. The hollywood and sports celebrities love him and got nothing but respect for him. They all come to see his fights and understand they are watching a legend of the sport. All this im saying is coming from the casuals and interviews of celebrities. Mayweather has changed boxing in more ways than one and will be the highest paid athlete for years to come. Dude is the real deal, i gotta give him his just due. He's a genius in and out the ring.
What are you even talking about? Oscar had a built in fan base (mexico), was handsome, and had a reasonably exciting style. He doesn't apply to what I'm talking about. Tyson is the worst example possible. He is one of the most exciting fighters to ever get in the ring, had an incredibly explosive style. He is easily the most INFAMOUS boxer ever, was always in the media. FIGHTERS LIKE TYSON DON'T APPLY. Tyson generated interest when he had a lot of losses. This thread is about fighters who AREN'T that exciting in the ring to casuals, who DON'T have a built in fan base (i.e, non-brits/mexicans etc) and who DON'T generate controversy in the media. Mayweather has shown these guys (look at the paragraph above) how to become PPV stars, and as a result less fights that could be made are being made because those fighters just can't afford to lose now. This thread is in no way insulting Floyd...calm down *****s.
Floyd is in jail and the only thing that is on your mind when it comes to boxing is Floyd. So in actuality, Floyd is helping the sport. It's people like you who hurt the sport because you fail to acknowledge anything else that is currently going on. Outside of your hatred for Floyd you undercover groupie/fan. Who is fighting this weekend?
Your right. I stopped reading at Floyd is hurting boxing. Lol. Just woke up and didn't feel like hearing any **** like that, especially when the dude is in jail. My bad slyk. Still can't really put this blame on Floyd IMO tho. I get what you're saying but I still point at the promoters for simply trying something that maybe their fighter can't necessarily pull off. Not only is it Floyd's 0 but it's also Floyd's demeanor that makes it sell and he the two compliment each other well. It's the promoters who can figure out how to better market their fighters.
Crap thread. Floyds last 5 fights have been more exciting then Pacquiaos last five as someone already stated. Cotto v Matweather is top 10 fight this year so far. Floyds style can be appreciated by casuals. Same as Leonard and Ali were appreciated. Floyd is undefeated because hes great. As we've seen with numerous boxers undefeated does not translate into cash. If so Ward would be selling out arenas. I dont know **** about tennis but i watch federer and can see his ability over last 10 years is clearly ahead of his contemporaries. Im sure casual can see the same in Mayweather
I think they can read. They just read one sentence and if it isn't "Floyd is da G.O.A.T" they rush to call me a hater and say **** thread. I really don't interact with Floyd fans on here much but I hope they all aren't like this... :dead
If you think Floyd has a more fan-friendly style to casuals than Pacquiao then I don't know what to tell you. Pacquiao has certainly slowed down lately but prime for prime his STYLE is MUCH more appealing to casuals. Please read other posts to better understand what I'm saying. Casuals really don't appreciate the tactical dismantling of an opponent.
floyd should throw a fight so he won't have this problem anymore, that would totally fix boxing, right?
Read in bold what you wrote. That's my point. The two compliment eachother, and it's hard to be REALLY cocky without that 0 (see Naz Hamed). The promoters are always trying to figure out how to better market their fighters, and right now they are going with the formula that Floyd has shown to work.
