Devon Alexander hated

Devon is rarely talked about in any fashion. Don't see that much hatred for the guy.

 

no hate. just want to see him fight an elite fighter and give it his all instead of quitting like he did against bradley and hugging all night against maidana.

 

I lost a lot of respect for him after Bradley fight.

He's mostly ignored at ESB. Boring fighter, didn't rise to the occasion in several instances. Has caught some good breaks. I like him fine but don't think about him much.

 

he had a cloud of hype around him when he ko'ed urango, ppl were saying he was boxings next big star and the no.1 guy at 140. but then he fights kotelnik who handn't fought in a year and earns a gift decision (kotelnik got ripped off) fights bradley and bitches out in a boring fight and then goes on to get another gift decision against matthyse. Alexanders last few fights have been very telling into the type of fighter he is. The maidana fight isn't even worth mentioning. Maidana is a very flawed brawler who had no buisness at 140. Its not like alexander moved up and went on to fight a legit established 147 fighter.
brook and khan would beat alexander and they would do it without much trouble

 

To be fair to him and his team, I think they all knew that complaining about a small cut stinging and burning looked very bad for a fighter but DAMN have they gone about rectifying the criticism in style! In a succession of three bouts since Bradley he's been matched with arguably the three biggest hitters at that scheduled weight: Matthysse, Maidana and Bailey! Regardless of gift decisions or whatever, the willingness to take them on one after the other deserves props, imo.

But I can see why people dislike his continual stay-at-home ways, PARTICULARLY when it's obvious he was lucky to eke out a decision win against Matthysse (can't remember my exact scoring but think I had Lucas up by maybe two rounds, with the knockdown included, three points? Don't recall it being more).

 

How has he got a shot at the IBF? How many wins has he had at welterweight?

There just aren't many threads on Devon to think he's SOO hated. Dude is barely talked about, even when he has a fight.

 

he ducks no one and takes tough challenges so I respect the guy! the Bradley **** was weak but forgivable....can't blame him for gift decisions, he doesn't judge his own fights.....

 

not a huge fan but i respect him. he gets alot of ****.

but i loved the reaction of 90% of ESB and Youtube after seeing him beat the **** out of Maidana.

haters werent expecting that one

 

I like him. I think he's a good fighter when he wants to fight.
