Wlad In Another Farce!

I've more or less come to accept Wlad for what he is...he'll never excite the masses, he'll always err on the side of caution, and he'll never be a big draw in the USA. But he is good.

In this fight, I really blame the powers that be more than anything. I believe Thompson was the #1 contender for one of those belts of Wlad's. If so, then I can't really blame Wlad for taking this fight again.

That said, Thompson is as limited as they come, and was negative throughout the fight. I thought Wlad at least looked a bit more aggressive than usual, but I agree overall the fight was yet again another stinker.

I sympathise a bit with Wlad sometimes, but HBO are in part justified in not broadcasting his fights.

No reason to sympathize with Wlad. If he wants his fights broadcast he needs to engage. Seeing as how he is making boatloads off of the Hasselhoff fans, I don't see this happening.

Do you know what "mandatory" title defenses are? You do realize they are mandatory? Do you know what mandatory means?

Wlad's mentality is that he's gonna play it safe 100% of the time, and will only take a chance when there is almost no possible risk. That's why he ain't gonna go to the body much, throw many uppercuts, etc - and be will never brawl. His "safety first" formula has worked for a decade now. He hasn't been floored in a decade, he's barely lost a round. Say what you will of the entertainment value, he's EFFECTIVE and his reign is dominant.

Now here's the thing - at some point somebody will come along that won't allow Wlad to play safety first and will FORCE HIM to fight. Only then will we see if Wlad can make adjustments, freestyle, brawl with a dude, etc.

I've been mocked on this forum for the last couple of years for stating this, but: that guy is Cris Arreolla. Vitali had the mental toughnes to keep cracking Cris on the way in, Wlad will try to hold. In MSG (where they are talking about holding the bout) that won't fly.

Wlad may very well win that fight, but at least Cris will push him into a real fight.

You think there is a chance that Arreola takes the fight? I keep hearing that he is looking for another title shot but not against Wlad.

I go to UCSD so I would LOVE to go to the fight if it was in LA.
