For **** sake this **** again?! There is not enough talent to justify having a Heavyweight or a cruiserweight division . . . heavyweights just have to learn how to fight.. Smaller fighters can do extremely well against taller fighters Smokin joe, Marciano, Tyson, Liston are all examples of that . . . these guy just have to learn how to box

Jesus Christ! Every day another idiot thinks he is such a genius by thinking of adding another division! No we dont need another division. The heavyweight division will get better. All the divisions go through high points and low points. Learn some boxing history.

Haye beat Valuev meaning smaller guys can beat huge guys.

Redundant shitty thread and a bad idea.

The argument in favour to bring in a 'Super heavyweight' division is basically saying Ali, Frazier, Liston, Louis, Marciano, Tyson etc can't live with the likes of Lewis, Bowe and the Klitschko's. Is that what you lot really think?

I would rather see the Cruiserweight limit be raised to 210 lbs or maybe 215. To echo other's statements, that would allow guys who are in shape and close to succeed at a slightly lower weight. To be honest, I think more important would be to consolidate the ridiculous lower weights that are less than 10 lbs apart, some are 3 pounds apart, 3 pounds, a boxer could gain or lose 3 pounds in a matter of days.

    Done to death topic

    my answer NO

dividing heavyweight is gonna have the cruiser effect

Cruiser never has been a glamor division its had great fighters and great fights but nobody stays there

they chase the cash and the dream of being a HWT champ cause in reality a 6 month reign as a HWT is better than 5 years 10 defenses at cruiser to a lot of ppl (more so an analogy)

basically if you divided heavy the lighter division would probably end up like cruiser any one remotely successful would move up and chase the glory and the bigger money

it might though make cruiser more exciting

yes. there are excellent fights to be made in a 200-225 lb division. The 200-225 lbers would still challenge the super heavyweights but there would be another set of champions to bring publicity to boxing.

Even the MMA classification is better than boxing classification. I like the classification system used by some MMA bodies--light heavy at 205, cruiserweight 230, heavy at 265, everything above that is super heavy.

I like the increased CW idea.

I mean essentially, if you are over 6'1 as a professional boxer, it's hard to be under 185 pounds. Sure they cut weight to 160 and even less sometimes, but that's cut weight, not their fighting weight.

I've always though CW should be around 210.

    201 lbs = Chambers
    301 lbs = Valuev

    It's like a 110 lb. man fighting a 210 lb. man.

    You follow?

Haye was like 213 when he fought Valuev who was 315!

Tyson was 215 when he Ko'd the 6'6 Sammy Scaff in round one. Scaff was 250 pounds.

Adamek was 217 when he beat 270 pounds Grant.

Yeah but that means the big guys of old weren't the biggest champs! Joe Louis was heavyweight world champion, Not Crusierweight champion. These new divisions would change history practically. Heavyweight is the biggest division. and anyway MMA is corny. Tyson at 5'10 and 215 could KO any man on earth so what does it matter? These smaller heavyweights know what they are getting into. Adamek has done well,Haye has done well,Huck is coming to heavyweight,Steve Cunnigham is also coming. We cant confuse this matter anymore.
