What part of he wasn't ready then do you not understand? When he fought Zbik, he wasn't that great and lacked experience, yet he still won. Chavez is now a lot better ...does your little brain comprehend this yet?
Let's just be excited it's happening. Why or how isn't of any concern. Now, it's competitive because they waited and (although I REALLY hate to say this), we should be thankful Arum didn't pull the trigger earlier before Chavez wasn't ready. One, the fight wouldn't sizzle like it does now with it being a fight for the legitimate top dog at MW, and two, this fight earlier would have risked ruining a young fighter.
If JR gets countered hard with the left and does not budge like his last fight... I can see him bullying and laying hands on Martinez. Martinez needs to pick him off hard and often to win.
Because Arum is the devil of boxing, and it sucks admitting that he did something right. I still dislike the man.
I wouldn't want to see Jr. vs Martinez a few years ago either. What's the point? It would have been like sending a lamb to be slaughtered. Jr. only started showing his potential in the last year or so. Now we him taking on the best Middleweight in the world in a significant fight. Pretty big step up.
Jr vs Martinez now, is a great fight, to have happened a year or two ago would have been ridiculous. Stop hating on the BobFather, he did the right thing here, for everyone, himself included.
I can't complain about the timing. It's never been a more legitimate fight. September 15th... Or six months after? How about 12? 18? Can't complain.
Arum watched the Maklin fight and said make it happen... (Sergio looked average in that fight, Maklin gassed)
