Joe Frazier vs. Mac Foster

This is a bit of a silly question.

 

Jerry Quarry KO 6 Mac Foster (a bludgeoning)
Muhammad Ali UD 15 Mac Foster (an easy run-around)
Joe Bugner UD 10 Mac Foster (a decisive beating)

Joe Frazier TKO 7, TKO 5 Jerry Quarry (dismantlings)
Joe Frazier UD 15 Muhammad Ali (resounding victory), L UD 12 Muhammad Ali (close and debatable, Ali was allowed to get away with ridiculous amounts of fouling), TKO by 14 Ali (murderous war, old Frazier lost by the hairs of his chinny-chin-chin)
Joe Frazier UD 12 Joe Bugner (over-the-hill Joe still manages a sound victory)

These guys are on different planets. "Oh, but he had a bad style for him" is a workable argument only when you're talking about two guys of somewhat comparable ability.

 

Joe wins, but Mac still has the cooler name.

 

When it's one or two cases of an elite fighter beating another elite fighter easily while another struggles, the question is open. Not so when it's a mediocre flash-in-the-pan who gets thrashed by not one, not two, but three victims of the other guy and never gets within 100 miles of the man's heels. This is like asking, "Who do you think would win- Muhammad Ali or Lou Savarese?"

 

Ali would win, but Savarese has the cooler name. Say it really fast: Savareeeeesssssssseeee. It's got the sizzle.

 

At the present movement, I have to make Savarese the favor to win.

 

Frazier vs. Mac Foster is an interesting fight...for hardcore boxing fans at least.

As for the result, Frazier would have destroyed Mac. Overwhelmed him and knocked him out by the fifth or six round. In his prime and in even in his older years (post 1971), Frazier was a monster.

 

Quarry owned Mac, took his body and then the head, I saw that fight live, Frazier wold have handled Mac

 

Depending on how hard Mac Foster hit, he has a chance on styles.

I think everyone here would pick Frazier as the winner. But the point of the thread is why they didn’t fight. Frazier’s management was extremely gun shy about matching him vs Punchers.

Mac Foster, Leotis Martin, Ken Norton, Sonny Liston, Ernie Shavers, and Ron Lyle could have fought Frazier at one time or another, but did not. Coencidence on all of them? Not likely.

 

Mac Foster never kod a boxer rated in the top 10 when they fought ,he failed every time he stepped up in class Frazier would beat him and probably stop him inside 10 rds,imo.

 

Frazier would win, but Mac would probably give him a few anxious moments.
