Vitali Klitschko vs Rocky Marciano

I don't know but I'd know within three rounds.

 

Marciano would never close the insane gap. Vit is a master at controlling the distance and keeping cool while under attack. The Rock takes a beating and it stopped inside ten.

 

Kind of hard to invision Marciano being able to overcome such a big obstacle. Vitali would dictate the fight with his jab and hold when necessary. Maybe Rocky's body attack would be the deciding factor, but I think Vitali is elusive and tall enough to avoid getting hit often to the head.

 

I don't think Marciano could even close the gap to get to the body. He would be taking in inordinate amount of damage. Though Vitali is a stiff, old arm-puncher these days, he did stop damn near every opponent he faced and rarely even lost a round during his prime year. He just controlled such a great percent of the action and the rules of how the fight was to be engaged. That, and he's a mean son of a *****.

 

I think both are great but Vitali is all kinds of wrong for Rocky.

Lennox, Chisora, Arreola and Byrd all closed the gap, as did Solis before his knee went out

Rocky is certainly better at closing the gap than those men, but he wouldn't be strong enough to win unless he had access to Vitali stash of PEDs

 

I would be hesitant to put either Klitschko in a boxing contest against an all time great like Marciano.

 

Lennox Lewis? Isn't that the 6 foot 5 guy with an 84" reach? Or was he 5 foot 10 with a 67" reach?

Chisora? Is this a prime for prime match or a 40 year old stiff as a board version of Vitali against The Rock? Did Chisora even win 2 rounds of that fight, against the 40 years old multi-ply version of Vit?

Arreola?.. Again, he won maybe one round before getting beat to a pulp and stopped.

If the gap closing skills were as advertised I think the analogies would be closer or at least relevant. Instead, we have Vitali winning almost every round against these guys, barring a few against an all-time great in Lewis (granted, not a primed version, but the analogy with Marciano is hilariously ill-conceived.)

Wlad is much better than Vitali. Deal with it.

 

Take the Vitali tinted glasses of Chisora and Arreola backed him up hit him and won multiple rounds, especially Chisora, Vitali is slower now granted but in his prime what pressure fighters did he face? Byrd walked him down, winning about 5 rounds and Vitali quit and maybe he did his shoulder but he was using both hands without seemingly pulling punches

Vitali hasn't fought any top pressure fighters either, Chisora probably being the best he's ever fought

 

Rocky fought in the Olden Days when people were short and light. if he was in this era he would of been born bigger and heavier, taller.

Imagine a Marciano the size of Tommy Morrison with the sauce of Pac. He would become as fast as prime Roy Jones

Vitali was 40 (forty) (XV) (quaranta) (quarante) (kırk) (ארבעי&#1501 (چه&#1604 (สี่สิ&#3610 at the time of the Chisora fight. I thought these head to head matches typically supposed prime for prime versions of each fighter. And, the official cards had it 118-110 twice and 119-111. That's what Chisora's vaunted pressure earned him against a robotic, stiff-as-a-board, depleted version of Vitali.

And yes ofcourse it's prime for prime, but again, which pressure fighter was Vitali facing in his prime? We only have Chisora/Arreola as a measure of the style and Byrd who changed his fighting style

 

Vitali is much bigger than the men Marciano faced, but Ukraine was a part of the Soviet Union during Rocky's era as well. This would be an important factor to consider.
