http://www.toprank.com/chavez-martinez#chavez-vs-martinez This was actually yesterday afternoon. I had intended to make a thread letting everyone know, but ESB was busy crashing off-and-on for no apparent reason. (actually there was a SQL "too many connections" error...but why so much traffic in the middle of a random Thursday? Who knows...) Anyway, if you missed the live stream Top Rank has the whole thing archived to view on their site along with the Vegas presser. :good
Mostly different parties patting each other on the back. Sampson Lewkowicz said he looks up to Bob Arum, and says that for a long time he wondered why Arum seemed reluctant to allow Martinez vs. Chavez to get made. He said he now understands that it was because Chavez wasn't ready yet. He is glad the fans get to finally see it.
When Arum took the podium he pimped the rebate offer lol and gave big ups to the co-promoter & head of Zanfer Promotions, Fernando Beltran.
I'm actually seeing it start to finish for the first time now. Only caught scraps and pieces yesterday. My enthusiasm for it dulled when the ESB servers weren't working properly for upwards of an hour. I'll let you know if there's any juicy smack chat.
Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. said through a translator that on September 15th "all the bull**** will end". Then he got serenaded by Bob Arum and presented with a big pink-frosting cake for his 50th birthday. :rofl
Uh-oh...DiBella maybe going out on too far of a limb, comparing Maravilla's legacy to Chavez Sr.'s. :err
You can tell the mutual respect is there on both parts... DiBelella's into & mic time stole the show tho, IMO. All the trash talk don't suit either Chavez/Martinez to be honest.
Are you referring to the "One of the greatest of all time" to the "one of the greatest of our time" line? If so, I didn't take much out of that. I thought Jr calling Martinez a ballerina was funny. But not funny enough to say twice. What I didn't like was Beltran shooting his mouth off, calling Martinez a clown. You're a promoter dude, promote.
