Well, he was 120-1 before he even got his first shot at the Middleweight title.

Because if they did they would have to fight inferior fighters a lot of the time as you can't fight the top 5 every fight which is somewhat pointless and you would be lynched for cherry picking and padding your record.much like ray did

SRR, was fighting someone who had 20lbs on him and was dominating the fight. The corner and ref stopped the fight cause of heat exhaustion.

Ray walked into the ring against Maxim - the lightheavy champ - weighing 157lbs.

That's all you need to know regarding this fight. Anyone who thinks Robinson quit DKSAB.

I decided to watch the fight and found it on the tube of you. It was edited I think. Narrated by Jimmy Jacobs. It was enough to get an idea of what went on that night.

Robinson started the fight off with a fast pace. Birilantly out boxing Maxim for the first six rounds. Rounds 7,8 & 9 looked like Robinson rounds, but the pace had slown down. It could have been the heat. Maxim had been leaning on Robinson. He had also been landing body punches from the opening round. What ever it was Robinson was starting to show the effects.
I don't know what Robinson's game plan was. Did he plan on stoping Maxim early? Keep in mind that Maxim was stopped only once in 100+ fights.
In the most ideal of conditions it would have been hard to keep the pace that Robinson set in the first 6 rounds for a whole 15 rounds.
Maxim's game plan was more clear. Let Robinson do the work. Let him tire himself out.
In the video I watched Jacobson mentioned the story of the tortis and the hair.
Like the story. Slow and stedy won the race, or in this case fight.
