It was everything that was great about them combined.

Al Bernstein said at one point in the middle rounds, "all the storylines are coming together". Marquez's decision to trade in the pocket, Vazquez's vulnerability to cuts, Marquez's jab controlling the distance, Vazquez using his own to get inside, Marquez mixing up his power shots and adding a hook to his vaunted straight to great success, Vazquez mixing up his power shots and adding a straight to his vaunted hook to great success, both guys timing incredibly precise uppercuts on the inside, the movement of Marquez, the bodywork of Vazquez - literally, EVERYTHING that lent the first two fights their drama resurfaced in spades here in the rubbermatch.
