ESPN2 FNF: Andrzej Fonfara vs. Glen Johnson & Jose Luis Castillo vs. Ivan Popoca RBR

Round 3

Left hook up top by Castillo, and a slicing right uppercut to the body. It strays low and he receives a mild warning. Castillo starts to wind more rights to the body, but can-openers instead of uppercuts and kept above the waist. Popoca is still fighting southpaw, busily pumping right jabs and pushing his left as he backs into a corner. Castillo mauls him and whacks him with a right hand over the top. Popoca spins him to the ropes and hacks at him as Castillo leans in. Popoca is cut, bleeding heavily from the eye. BIG looping right by Castillo. Trading shots toe to toe. Castillo pushed to the ropes. He pushes back to the Corona logo. Left upper-hook to the jaw by Castillo. Clinch, Popoca holding on. Another left upper-hook by Castillo staggering forward as Popoca suddenly pulls back and removes his support beam. Big looping left by Popoca stepping forward, and Castillo plants his feet to land a big left hook. Huge shots, just slugging away. Castillo has his back to the ropes. Popoca flurries with uppercuts as Castillo rolls his neck and counters with his left upper-hook.

Round 3: 10-9

Action starts off pretty even this round. . JLC then takes over, presing him back to the ropes. . But Poopa comes back strong, pressing JLC back. . SOme nice exchanges, and some two-way action. . Back and forth fighting in a phone booth that is slightly favoring JLC due to technique. . . Poopa comes back ith a 1-2-hook. . . JLC hits him clean with a left hook getting his ground again! POOPA CUT over the left eye! Poopa ends the last 10 seconds of the round as the aggressor, having JLC pressed out on the ropes. CLOSE ROUND.

Damn round 3 of popka and castillo was like corrales vs chico 1 WOW!!!

 

Papoca is very busy in round 3 and getting in some shots. Castillo is busting him up, though. Popoca seems to have got in more shots, while JLC landed the more telling blows. I'm giving the round to Popoca because of his energy

Respect to the guy for coming forward, but Castillo landed the better shots. Guarantee the judges give it to Popoka.

Time for a WAR now it seems.

 

I know the ESPN graphic is showing hot pink as the color for Castillo's trunks (they aren't, they're a very subtle pinkish off-white) - but were they actually white when he entered the ring, and just now stained with Popoca's blood? Is the ESPN producer or graphics operator just confused?
