For ****'s sake, half this forum does not know what defense is. Hands up, keeping your preferred range, keeping your chin down, rolling with a punch, all count as defense. People act as if pressure fighters advance with their hands behind their back and their upper bodies stiff and upright. Because of their stature, many Latin American fighters must be aggressive and take one to give two at times in order to get at more mobile opponents.

If you want to talk about Marque's defense, watch how he slips and rolls and avoids most of Katsidis's punches after the 3rd round. When he can afford to mix it up, he does. When he knows he can't, he avoids getting hit very well.

If you want historically conventional outside-fighting Mexican boxers, there are a bunch of great examples, like Canto and Sanchez. Chavez has one of the best defenses on the inside ever. So "we" have seen plenty.

 

Well, I don't call this blocking punches with head. He's not the typical mexican warrior who comes forward taking 5 punches to land 2.

Well, Katsidis makes it tough for anybody who is the same size as him of smaller I guess. You can't just outclass anybody when you are facing at that kind of level
