Why is that, do they not not know there are fans of other ethnic backgrounds that are cheering for them as well? Garcia in victory last night was just the latest fighter of Latin decent to do this, but almost all latin fighters do this. There's nothing wrong with it, but it alienates fans of other nationalities who actually support them. Please no racist remarks, just logical debate.
@Shotty No, I know they know, they have fans from other backgrounds. But acknowledging only one group, alienates all others, and creates a divisiveness that sells fights, but still divides fans and the sport.
boricuas are a united bunch. mexicans are a united bunc, and so on. within specific nationalities, hispanic people are very proud to be who they are.
6'4 South. They are giving love to the fans that mean the most to them. Their "own people" Of course they love all their Fans, but they feel more love for people from their own Ethnic Background. Its not alienating other Fans, its simply giving love to their most important fans. If i was a Boxing fan i would love British Fans more and generally show them more love. Put simply its human nature.
Can't wait to get a white champ, and hear him say I just want to thank all the white people paying everybody and all the white fans that make this sport possible. Lol
@Tubby That's funny, but that's exactly my point, I've never heard that from a white fighter! I've heard European fighters acknowledge their country, but never just their ethnic background. Believe me I understand pride and unity, but those things can be just as divisive as they are bonding.
Latin or latino are of any ethnicity, Latin America is very varied in terms of this, so....I don“t see a problem..
as long as he does not thank all hiss kkk fans people will probably let him slide for it. Danny Swift Garcia was just emotional last night after his win, I am pretty sure he has love for all his fans.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgL74RvyFc4&feature=relmfu[/ame] End Thread dealdeal Hes repping all his people from Philly as he has vocally said, he has vocally stated that hes proud to be the next American champ, and he has also given his respects to all the Puerto Rican people due to his blood but not only Ricans but ALL other Latinos. So he basically reps an AMERICAN city, and all Latinos in the world, in specific - Puerto Ricans. I think thats NOT necessarily "alienating" himself.
