Ok, like many other ppl, I've had my share of fun mocking Khan for getting starched by Garcia the way he did, but after further analysis of the brutal punch that caused the first knockdown, I think Khan might have fell victim to a rabbit punch

¨A rabbit punch is a blow to the neck or to the base of the skull. It is considered especially dangerous because it can damage the cervical vertebrae and subsequently the spinal cord, which may lead to serious spinal cord injury or even death.¨

Any boxing fan knows such punches are devastating and dangerous, and can get you KO'd pretty easily, hence why they are ILLEGAL.

Danny didn't do it on purpose, obviously. He was just throwing his hook hoping to land on Khan's head, it was a lucky for him that it landed precissely there, on the neck and partially on the back of the head

The punch that caused Khan's demise (he never recovered from it) was a rabbit punch with tremendous force behind, no wonder Khan was done after that.

So perhaps we have been a little too harsh mocking Amir's fragile glass mandible, when truth is he took a punch hardly anybody could withstand.

Its a fair point, I felt Amir was incredibly unlucky in this fight. Now I'm worried he may have a serious permanent injury from that brutal punch

for the record, I like Khan and think he showed a lot of heart in this and other fights. You make some good points on the definition of what a rabbit punch is but being around boxing as long as I have and being a former boxer, I can tell you there are 2 places on the chin that result in KO's.

First one is the point of the chin. Getting hit there compresses the back of the jaw and causes someone to go out.

The second is the base or back of the chin where the jaw muscle is and right above the neck I think Garcia's glove also hit there while simultaneously hitting Khan's neck.

I don't want to say Khan has a glass jaw but he definitely doesn't have a strong chin. He does get hurt, and I will admit he was KO'd by a HUGE puncher in Prescott but Garcia isn't a huge puncher by any means. Was it a perfect punch? Maybe but I think Khan is always one shot away (even more so than the avg boxer) from being knocked out of a fight.

Danny on the other hand was very lucky, he threw the hook blindly hoping to land somewhere on Khan's head, and it turned out to be THE victory punch

In that case, it means Khan took the equivalent of two KO punches (one of them illegal and very dangerous) at ONCE. Heck, we should be surprised that he stood up at all

    ?? It works for me

Garcia anticipated his in and out flurries. Earlier he was just a little off of landing those hooks.

Khan does not have a good chin, but near the base of the skull behind the ear can be a bad place to be hit.
