Honestly, Roy's speed and reflexes would make this an interesting contests for more than just a couple of rounds. He's got the height advantage to Sam.

There's a reason why Langford was one of the most avoided fighters of all time. I'd bet on him catching Jones and stopping him inside 10 rounds. Jones Jr is notorious for leaving his left hand in his pocket which makes him wide open to right hands. Prime, young Langford would catch him and stop him.

I have difficulty picking anyone over Langford at 175lbs.

    Jones wide shut out decision

Not many caught Jones with a clean right hand and Toney/Hopkins I'd bet had faster more accurate straight rights than Langford

Langford would run him down and eventually catch and crush him ... imagine if Glen JOhnson could punch ?

Do you think they were in the same universe, in terms of power?

What most people don't understand is, if a punch doesn't land, it doesn't really matter how powerful it is

Langford was the all time master at setting people up to take a punch they wern't expecting. He didn't get his opening by luck, he made it.

Exactly. Often like a miniature version of Archie Moore. Langford set up his shots and I'd bet on him setting up Roy with a big shot and tagging him. Roy leaves his left hand way too low to bring it back up in guard for defense. Never liked that lazy left, and I'd bet my money on him getting caught and dropped by Sam.

I could probably find a fighter from the 1810s who could knock him out if they landed flush.
