Totally outclassed? Too slow? Glass Him? What could he have done better to increase his chances? Thoughts? :huh:think
Didn't think he threw enough punches when he got close to Haye but that may have just got him knocked out earlier. I did think Haye was starting to get tired though so it would have been interesting to see what happened if it went a few more rounds.
Wrong strategy vs. a counter puncher. You don't stumble after a guy like Haye who is making his living off picking off big counters while being on the backfoot. Biggest mistake of Chisora though: Once he was inside, he threw NOTHING. He didn't let his hands go when he was in close quarters with Haye. Chisora couldn't have done anything different. He simply is lacking the boxing skills to box from the outside and his inside game is utter crap. This is why the fight went how it went and would go the same way 9 out of 10 times. The only way a journeyman like Chisora could win this would be via lucky punch and they don't happen too often.
The surprising thing was haye was actually outmuscling Chisora on the inside and marching him back to the ropes
He just didn't expect Haye to fight like he did, he expected Haye to run but Haye fought him at range and up close. Haye muscled him back and beat him on the inside.
Lose weight and dramatically improve punch technique for a start. Chisora was throwing punches like he was banging drums ffs.
Is that really surprising though? Chisora's extra weight is fat and I would imagine Haye can out lift Deerrick by about 30% in any muscle group workout.
To me Haye fought like he always does. Intermediate range, chin hanging low, waiting to counter with looping crosses or straight right hand while on his backfoot. Haye Vs. Ruiz and Haye vs. Chisora are pretty much carbon-copies of eachother. If Chisora didn't anticipate this then he's dumber than I thought.
They were doing that because they were aiming for the temple, Don Chalres had saw that whenever Haye's been down in the past it's been from a temple shot ( Thompson, Mock) and they though they could catch him unaware.. he adjusted to that punch well though And ye it did look like he was banging a drum
