lets use Josesito Lopez as an example with his fight against Canelo.

should he try to put on the pounds and get fat or just fight @ where he is comfortable. is he allowed to?

id rather just fight as myself than be bloated on fight night.

Floyd is another example of a fighter who fights @ the weight he wants when against bigger opponents like Oscar & Cotto @ 154. he pretty much just came in as a Welterweight

Well, Pac weighed in at like 144 for a 150 lb catchweight fight against Margarito, I'm not sure if Pac gets special rules to do that though? It's how they did it in the olden days anyways

I agree if you bloated up sometimes u lose some key aspects of ur abilities, Speed and Cond are the most effected. Floyd does whats in his better for his body fighting at a weight he carry that fits his frame and allows him to use his gifts the best. Good topic btw

Seeing Josesito side by side with Canelo I'm starting to think Lopez has been fooling us...
The man makes Canelo look like "He" is the one moving up in weight.

Alvarez better be ready for this guy.
(He might Jesse Vargas Canelo if he ain't right)
    <--Takes Promoter hat off...

    Comfortable, IMO.

personally I would just fight where I'm comfortable at. Idk if that's the smartest thing to do, but that's what I'd do.
Most fighters cut weight anyway, so I'd just go and train as hard as I can while eating healthy and let the weight fall wherever it falls

It depends on your style and opponent IMO. If you work best using movement and speed, and have a good chin on you (good enough to take a few good shots from your opponent and still be standing), then coming in comfortable with no added weight is a good idea. But if you need to be physical and face a more daunting physical disadvantage, then putting on weight is the way to go. You don't necessarily have to sacrifice all your speed and agility or "bloat up" with much fat to make the weight gain. Not sure which way is best to go for Lopez.
