There's a fine line between greatest and p4p best.

Silva is the best p4p. But he showed weaknesses. Fedor hasn't.

p4p = at this point in time considering recent activity. GOAT = ALL TIME.

You wouldn't say Ali is p4p best but you COULD argue that he is GOAT.

This is about the completeness of there achievements of which Fedors IS superior to Silva`s taking into account his competition and near undefeated record. Silva had a GREAT win last night. I didnt expect him to be able to dominate Hendo like that. But since coming to the UFC his beaten Franklin twice convincingly and Hendo. Other than that the other wins over Nate,Leben and Travis were just that good wins over some UFC names. There not the type of names to elevate him to ATG status but the manner of his victorys along with his consitency is what willl make him an ATG in MMA.

No one was heralding Silva as the next big thing despite his stellar record in Cage Rage and his days in PRIDE. I dont really understand the band wagoners that are so fresh to proclaim him as the greatest ever in MMA when in reality his greatest achievements have only happend in the last year or so.Fedor in comparison was consistently beating great names for a long period of time

As for Fedors wins over CC and Nog dont try and downplay them just because of the latters recent peformances. That type of maths doesnt add up no matter how much spin you try and put on it. Both CC and Nog had there BEST days in PRIDE and are legit ATGs at there weight.

On point. I was just about to give the same analogy.:good

As for weakness`s though i have to disagree. Silva is very complete on the ground and standing up. But his recent activity cant be questioned in regards to his P4P status as the number 1 in the sport. His beaten some very good names in the past year.

I dunno, I think Lutter dominated Silva on the ground until he gassed. Henderson dominated the first round and then did something ******ed.

IMO Hendrson should've won the whole fight if kept doing what he did first round. Go into clinch, takedwon, GNP. Simple but effective. Obviously there's no one else who's gona be able to do that to Silva except Hendy and maybe Lindland without getting subbed.

But like Fedor he found a way to win. Most folks laugh at Silva`s black belt in BJJ but the reality is his body triangle took the life out of Hendo. His ground game is very good.He doesnt have a massive array of submmisions but his versatility and flexibility on the ground is a massive addition to his excellent standup.

As for Lutter if i recall he didnt even make weight for the most important fight of his career.I guess Lutter was more dominant on the mat in the 1st round and with his takedowns and side control but his BJJ is better than Silva`s.Lutters technique though in that fight was just sloppy. His arm bar attempt was just poor. But Anderson just like Fedor he found a way to win.

I know he found a way to win obviously this fight does NOT take away from Silva. I just think that td + GNP is the way to beat Silva considering what I've seen from recent fights.

Possibly but no ones done that yet to him in his career and theres no one at 185 that will do so i guess its all conjecture. If Dan cant do it i dont see anyone doing it to him.

Lutter did not show any signs of gassing in that fight, stop bullshitting, everyone just assumed it because he didn't make weight. He was doing well on the ground until Anderson was able to lure him into going for the armbar, thus getting him off. He in no way gassed.

If it's no hassle to make the weight, he'd easily do it. GSP is a phenom as well, but if he just did Henderson like that, GSP has nothing for him.

I'm hoping we get a GSP/Silva match sometime in the near (2008) future.

Im glad he ruled out that option this early. The 205lbs guys will surely give him a run for his money there.
