David Haye has earned his shot at the championship!

    I've got to say that I never was a big fan of David Haye before he beat Chisora, he had not done too much at HW to impress me to be honest. His fight with Audley Harrison was the joke of the year, he just squeezed by the highly overrated Valuev and John Ruiz and Monte Barrett were shot to pieces when he fought them. Then it seemed to me that he didn't really try last time out...

    But his big win over Derek Chisora changed things a bit. Despite losing some fights, there's no doubt that Chisora was a tough mutha who had some nice performances despite losing his biggest fights. Plus he was royally robbed against Helenius. Chisora certainly was still a top ten HW, and the way Haye destroyed him and KOed him in 5 - a man who has never been close to being stopped before, and known for his iron chin - seals the deal: Haye is a top 5 HW no doubt. He's fast, has power, experience and ring intelligence. In a weak division, he's one out of a very few exciting fighters. Plus he makes it all look easy.

    So there is no doubt - David Haye has earned his shot at the champ. And since Toney does not have a fight scheduled now (the Adamek fight being canceled), why not stage Toney-Haye in the fall of 2012? It would be a great fight, and good for the HW division and boxing in general.

    What are your thoughts about this?

    WBC does not rank him. Has Booth approached them to solve that mess?

    the WBC is the belt that vitali holds! So a negotiation nightmare there.

    while i agree that the chisora win was impressive. How can a win against a fighter that is 0-3 in his last 3 fights put you in contention for a shot at a major championship belt.

    Just an opinion. also not a haye fan or hater

    Being reported on Sky Sports that Boente has said a match up with Haye could be looked at after the Charr fight and the elections... he also said he couldnt rule out a re-match with Wlad if Haye could justify it down the line

    Maybe another convincing win for Haye between now and then would persuade them to make it happen??

    I don't get why people say this. He obviously beat Hellennius, please don't be ignorant. Whether it officially says he did or not, we all know he beat him.

    Chisora performed very well against Vitali and made it competative, Haye beat Chisora in a far far far more decisive fashion than VK was able to, this is why

    If the champion outpoints someone and then you smash the **** out of them inside 5 rounds, it draws a clear comparison between their performance and yours

    The alphabet titles mean **** all

    I just want to see the best fights possible made, so that means Haye vs Vitali

    I don't like David, but I think that, given the state of the division, the Chisora win and its style compared to VK's win over him legitimately earned him the shot at Vitali. And, now it's a fight that I want to see.

    But, to your point, WBC politics may ultimately preclude it from happening, among other things.

    He beat the then rated #3 Helennius. Since then he has only lost to Vitali Klitschko (the number 1) and David Haye (the former #3).

    The whole reason Vitali even faced Chisora was because Hellenius, being #3 was next in line and he said 'we all know who won that fight and it was Chisora'
