What are the biggest misconceptions about boxing that people (including hardcore fans tend to believe) 1) The Biggest myth that I always see is that fighters should always fight the best and that they do it for the love of the sport. Truth Boxing is a Business and EVERY boxer and promoter does what they can to maximize their income for as long as they fight. How many people here plan on retiring by the time they are 35? 2) Boxer can pick the fighters to fight. 95% those fights are chosen by a promoter or advisers when a fighter gets to a certain level. agree or disagree? other myths?
Well since Adrian "The Weight Problem" Broner hasn't made weight his highly knowledgeable fans have set fire to the myth that weight actually means something on boxing.
MYTH: This fighter has been losing so he'll lose against this other guy. MYTH: This guy lost a fight against a guy like the guy he is fighting so he'll lose.
That inside fighting is "brawling" and outside fighting is "boxing". Boxing successfully at any range requires boxing skill. It's all boxing. Joe Frazier and Hank Armstrong had great boxing skill, for instance. It's absurd, how many guys who prefer to fight behind a jab get put in with an opponent of the exact same class who fights inside and inevitably people will pretend to be knowledgeable by declaring the outside fighter the "skilled boxer" of the two. Myth and pet peeve, for me. :yep
MYTH: "It's perfectly acceptable that Wlad & Vitali never fought each other. After all, they're brothers." - Someday, someone has to explain this to me.
This is kinda a pet peeve for me, that people think because you are an inside fighter that you do not have to Jab. the Jab is the most important punch for a boxer.
The idea that pressure fighting and fighting on the front foot is brawling annoys the **** out of me.
What you talking about? Charr IS a Lawyer and a Heart Surgeon and only boxes for fun. he is scheduled to be in court and surgery in the morning of his next fight and should win it even though the guy is a nobody . . . WARR CHARR:deal
I wouldn't fight my brother...should be fairly simple! if you require an explanation to understand that, you need much more help than ESB can offer you.
