If i was a pro boxer just starting off, i would want 20k standard per fight.

When i am British Champion...70k per fight...

    European Champion 90k per fight...

    World Champion....500k plus.....standard.

Haha aye, I didn't hear it from him personally but was what he told the guy I was chatting with......He prob makes 20-25k for 3 fights a year, not exactly living the high life and he'll likely be getting slightly more than Thain, McMillan etc as he's a medal winner

I never used the guys name because he didn't tell me personally, just used what I heard to give an example of what someone might be making. It's not CJ anyway but guessing he'll be on roughly the same. It's not difficult to figure out who I'm talking about

Most boxers starting out (well, the ones that haven't an Olympic pedigree or such), would earn something like £1000 - £1500 per fight and also have a percentage of their ticket sales.

I think that the lads coming out of the Olympics get way too much.

Is it really right that DeGale and Gavin got European title money for 6x3's?

It affects their development, because the promoters can't put them on as often, and the opponent will want good money to fight them. Gavin didn't fight Witter because Witter wanted too much money (despite being champion :nut) - ridiculous.

Ricky Hatton was on £3k per fight back in the day for four rounders, which was good, considering he was affordable and could get on often.

Having too much money as a youngster is bound to affect your psyche, especially considering the amount of spare time that fighters have and the number of groupies that attach themselves to them.

I know it's a different sport but at Leeds, the rugby players receive free college and university tuition as part of their contract - a few have done sports science courses, physiotherapy.... another is doing journalism and writes some good articles for the trade paper.

Would be a good initiative for the Board to implement IMO, or promoters.

Especially considering that one punch can end your career and you'll need a day job. Without any further qualifications or a trade behind you.... that'll prove difficult.

either you have loads of talent an get a good contract off a promoter or your a really good ticket seller i respect all boxers at all levels especially the ones who dont have the privilege to train full time an have to run before work an get in the gym after not a lot of money in boxing unless your at the very top id love to see boxers well payed for there commitment an efforts an also promoters barely break even putting shows on
