I never had the pleasures of watching him, but his record is very impressive. With 27 bouts and 27 stoppages, just how dominant would he be in the sport today?

We'll never know because he was denied the chance to fight in the States and when you're talking about greatness, fighting in the US is an absolute must nowadays.

Crazy ain't it? The English created all these sports, yet we have to make it in the US! WTF happened.

He was good but a bit of a wild man in the ring and a bit sloppy with his wide punches reminded me of a past fighter called Bazooka Limon and he could punch just like Limon.

Hard to say what his level was cause he never really fought an elite level fighter but he was good enough to beat decent to good fighters and some of them title holders.

If you want to see him at his best watch his fight with Demarco, he looks good in there against a guy that would become champion a couple of years after Valero dismantled him.

Inside the ring he was very good & improving, how good he might have been we'll never know

Outside the ring he was a dangerous lunatic

Pretty good, but someone who I suspect will be better off in history that he killed himself before his flaws became more apparent.

Someone like Marquez would have beaten him 99 times out of 100.

check out his performance against antonio demarco, the current wbc lightweight champion and you'll get a good idea of how good he was.

Also held his own and a bit more sparring with a still great Erik Morales.

Valero is like Tony Ayala. You can't say for sure, but looked like HOF talent from what he got done before the end.
