I have just finished listening to radio 4's documentary of the week where they talk about the importance of the home advantage. In team sports it is clear it exists with one reason the importance of the crowd on the official and the fact it does influence the officials in close calls in favour of the home team.
The documentary then went on to say that in sports like Gymnastics and Boxing where there is subjective scoring the effect of home advantage is even greater than in football.
So what are the 'great' winning performances where someone went in to their opponents backyard and won? And I do not mean Froch v Abraham which was on a neutral venue.

There are few examples that spring to mind? Recently I can think of Cleverly v Bellew domestically and internationally Paulie Malignaggi v Senchenko.

What away results spring to mind for you?

Chavez-Taylor I... considering the high likelihood of robbery, Chavez turned on a great performance to stop Taylor.

Mormeck vs Haye springs to mind...in the lions den vs the recognised no.1 in the division, down and hurt and goes onto stop the champ.

More recently I thought Gavin Rees was superb vs Mezaache

One recent one that springs to mind is Froch v Taylor, well second half of the fight anyway.

The fact there is so few just shows what a factor it is in boxing. Of course there are other factors such as home fighters te often overly matched against their opponents, but even o there are plenty of 50/50 fights a the outcome often
    goes to the home fighter.

That was the first one that came to my mind.

What about Hagler against Minter, that was a pretty good away performance from the Marvelous one

Chrisora/Helenius - Not world honours but great effort by Del Boy. And let's be honest, he won the fight.

In a few months time, we could be saying Audley Harrison against David Price LOL.

Very unlikely but you never no.

It's true, I always feel that the away fighter needs a knockout to win and it shouldn't be like that, it seems that way anywhere you go in the world as well, Germany has a bad reputation but we are just as bad over here, look at the Cox v Sai fight, Sai performed brilliantly and the poor sod was robbed blind.
