Would Calzaghe have been "Hattoned" if he had stepped up like Ricky?

Ahhh Jeff Lacy, the man nobody but Calzaghe fans knows/cares/remembers.

Calzaghe took the route of safety guys, that's not up for debate. He could have tried for greatness like Hatton but didn't.

The question of this thread is whether or not he would've been embarrassingly stopped like Hatton had he actually dared to be great.

Slyk your a troll, nothing more.

You picked up on Lacy but ignored the fact Hopkins and RJJ wouldnt fight Calzaghe until later in his career. So Joe took the fights he could get...and Kessler was the next best thing..what happened to him again?
Wouldnt say Kessler was the 'easy route'. Though a s a troll, you would

Damn shame Hopkins ducked him in 2002 then.

"A teleconference was set up in my office in New York for July 30th, 2002, and on the call was myself, Don King who was in the room, Frank ****** and Bernard Hopkins' lawyer, Arnold Joseph. Along with Arnold was a woman named Linda Carter, who was there on behalf of Bernard. We asked Arnold if Bernard wanted to fight Joe Calzaghe and we asked him how much money would he want if he did. The response we got was $3million and the fight would have to take place in the United States. After a little scratching of the head, we said 'Okay, done.' Frank ****** agreed on the spot, Don King agreed and we agreed so as far as we were concerned all parties were singing off the one hymm sheet. Arnold excused himself with Linda and I can only assume it was to call Bernard. Either that day or the next day, they came with a new demand: $6million, double the sum that had been agreed, the deal blew up.....he had then and still has no desire to fight Joe Calzaghe, that much is pretty clear.

Joe gets criticised sometimes for not having fought the big-name Americans, but in this case the fault has never rested with him."

    - Jay Larkin, then Showtime TV Network's Senior Vice-President of Sports and Event Programming.

There was nothing wrong with Calzaghe's following either not quite Hatton level but how many fighters in history have 30,000+ fans follow them half way across the world.
Calzaghe vs Kessler was fought in front of more than 50,000 fans.

Boring.... What if and perhaps and fantasy bull ****.

Facts - Clazaghe fought to packed houses for the last 5 years of his reign. 50,000 at the Mil Stad in Cardiff, over half the MSG was behind Joe - so that would be at least 8,000 - I know - I was there.

And the main fact - 46 came with the plan to beat Joe and they all failed. FACT.

The number of World title holder or former world title holders was in double figures. FACT

and lastly - Trolls still get people like me to bite - FACT. Ha ha - nice work my trolly foe.

without a shadow of a doubt - zero punch reistance, no plan B, folds like a lawn chair when faced with adversity, never beat a lineal or unified champion in his entire career, and is proven steroid user . . . . . . . and still his delusional fanboys want to call him superman and pretend he was one of the greatest head to head fighters of all time :nut:nut :lol::lol::lol: :rofl:rofl:rofl :patsch

To be blunt, with Calzaghe's style and great chin, it's unlikely he would get "Hattoned" as described had he stepped up. He would probably lose decisions to prime Jones, Hopkins, and Toney.
