he has a long way to go in order to be considered classy enough to be able to be heavyweight champ, even considering its shittiness, but i'd say, right now he has the power to KO any heavyweight not named vitali klitschko. that's a good start.
He's to lumbering. He could be champ sometime, but I can see anyone that is skilled and really gets on their bike beating him. I see Chambers being his nightmare. That said, he's going about it right and fighting often against good competition. His last 4 fights resulted in him taking 2 0's and the other 2 only have lost once. The combined records of the last 4 opponents is 47-2, so that is nothing to scoff about and Byrum gave Jennings a pretty tough fight.
Right now I think some pure boxers would school him.Chambers,Jennings and guys like that. But Mago is very similar to young Foreman and he said he models his style after Foreman too. Many people used to think that all slick boxers could beat Foreman but that was simply not true. Only Ali did it to the peak Foreman and Young did it to a sightly mentally unstable Foreman. To outbox Mago or a Foreman type, you also have to be in tremendous shape and you have to be able to take some bombs to the body and chin. That being said we aren't too sure how Mago will handle a real power shot to his jaw although he seems solid enough. The only way to tell is for him to fight better opponents. No more journeymen. Time to get into those contenders. *side note:that annoying Elie Sechback calls Magomed "Mago MagoMel" for some reason. What an annoying douche bag.
^ Like everyone said. If he doesn't improve, he'll just be a gatekeeper for the top guys with good defense. - and this is most likely what will happen. But I sure am glad he's around. Definitely an exciting fighter, and even if he LOSES, it will likely be a great fight. War Mago !
if he can magically learn some skills in the next year or two, then yes other than a good chin and awesome raw power, he has nothing to bring to the table
No he is far too one dimensional. A bit like Virchis big punh but a good boxer will outbox him.Maybe he develops his technice but I think chanser are bigger he believes his own hype andbevomes another big guy wih a punch and nothing else as often the case in the heavyweight division.
mago is the next best thing. no doubt about it. i would honestly pick him over any heavy in boxrec top ten.
