Who made a bigger impact on the sport of boxing....Floyd Mayweather Jr or Mike Tyson?

in the long run Mayweathers implementing of Drug testing will have a bigger impact than anything Tyson did.....if you're asking who was more popular and who influenced more boxers and fans than Tyson is the answer no doubt but Mayweather changed the game with the drug testing and I don't even think that was his intention with it but it is what it is. Tyson didn't change the sport so his impact on the sport was smaller but his popularity was obviously infinitely higher than Mayweathers...... yall seem to be confusing impact on ther sport with popularity and influence of the fighter

Floyd is a great boxer. Mike Tyson is a cultural icon. Who had a bigger impact on the sport itself is a tough question and depends on what your definition of "impact" means. Floyd ranks higher on the ATG list and will go down in history as one of the best ever. Tyson's one of the most intriguing sports personalities of all time. His name will always be bigger than Floyd's and he'll have a bigger impact on society as a whole.

That said, I vote Tyson.

 

Tyson was a star for ALL his boxing career - 1985-2005 and way beyond.

Mayweather became a star in his 11th year as a pro.

 

Mike Tyson of course.
