Burley would clearly beat Armstrong, bigger and maybe better too, I picked a decision but wouldn't rule out a stoppage

I'll go with Burley in a close fight, bigger, more accurate fighter.

Burley would out box Armstrong, to a decision win.

Wow. Way more one-sided than I expected so far. Burley by UD for me too.

Burley very well could have been the best welterweight of the late 30's - he just never got the fights to prove it.

Well he did get fights but never at the right time/consistency to be considered superior to armstrong's claim as the best ww.

By that what i'm trying to say is I think armstrong would have been a favourite over burley at any point in his championship reign.

That being said, it's patently obvious that burley would have won given what we know about both fighters.

I firmly believe that had burley got his title shot he'd have reigned until about 44, beating robinson before losing in a rematch as he finds himself getting more drained.

It's a shame really because he's like the best welterweight champion that never was.
