Watching the Guerrero fight over the weekend, two things came to mind: 1. 147 is a bit too big for him, the big dogs there will likely eat him up. 2. He is absolutely desperate for a big fight and 140 has some available. That said, Guerrero vs. Amir Khan could be a great crossroads bout for each fighter. We would get to see if Guerrero can beat an opponent with world class skills and if Khan is still relevant on the world stage. This fight easily makes HBO, meaning there is a decent payday, with the winner set up for another nice payday bout. Here's my breakdown, at 140 Hand Speed: Khan Power: Even Defense: Guerrero Footwork/Balance: Guerrero What do you guys think? Do you want to see it? Who wins?
I don't think Guerrero has nearly the power necessary to seriously hurt Khan. While he maintains a high output and can put together fluid arm-punch combinations, he doesn't seem all that great at controlling the distance or dictating the pace of a fight. Throw in Khan's greater handspeed, and I think he should be able to narrowly outbox Guerrero. Khan SD or UD in a good fight.
Robert People still making the mistake of Amir being some kind of master "boxer". Robert could outbox and outpunch him
Guerrero outboxes him, I don't think he stops him. His power has not come with him from feather, but he can box, he's a lefty and he's mentally tougher than Khan in the ring. Its actually a good fight for Khan, good call. Its the type of fighter he may actually look good against with the huge threat of power absent.
Khan Khan is pushing the 140 limit and needs to move up in the next 6 months.. or he may get KO'd again if he fights a big puncher.. especially if he keeps tabares and is fighting around 148 on fight night.
Guerrero is physically and mentally tougher, he's skilled, and there's no reason for me to believe Khan can beat him. I've seen Khan get sparked out in under a minute, I've seen him roughed up and bullied, I've seen him get knocked down three times and stopped in under four rounds, I mean I just have little confidence in his overall ability. I'm not saying he's shitty, I'm just saying he's going to have to show me, I would take Guerrero by Decision.
