What is everyone feelings on him ?, got to say i really like his commentary on the olympic boxing, and have liked him in the pro fights i have seen or heard him on, but im betting many think hes a knob. What is his background any one know ?, heard him on wimbledon as well but have a feeling hes more into his boxing
hes almost always the front man when boxing is on the bbc. yeah good knowledge...just seems a bit sluggish with his words points. says VERY obvious stuff and then some very thoughtful stuff. yeah good commentator. very much a radio commentator though. not sure i would like him on sky or boxnation.
His voice does my head in but a good play by play commentator and works well with Woodhall I think. I think they compliment each other well you know with Woodhall coming in with more in-depth stuff while Ronald just calls what's going on with the odd bit more threw in here and there.
he knows his stuff just his slow drawling voice is very annoying!! also goes on tangents about some very trivial and pointless things!! not my favourite commentator far from it infact!!
Fans on boxing forums are the wrong people to judge a boxing commentator. We make up 10% of the people watching. How would you feel if you were watching Badminton and they didnt dumb it down for you and explain the rules, shots etc
thats a fair point especially in the olympic boxing were casuals will be tuning in and not knowing whats going on or why the scores arent up on screen ect!!
i like him as a commentator, but as a presenter ringside interviewer hes a bit naff. He does the tennis and holds the world record, for the longest commentry on a sport (or something like that when h commented on that long tennis match !
He's ok as a commentator but he's just a bit big and scary to look at. We want more kids getting into boxing, he's just gonna scare them off and give them bad dreams.
