Jesus! That's crazy. Also unnerving that they let Tommy Morrison fight years after he was diagnosed. I know he said that it wasn't true that he was infected but still.
Johnny Lira-Pedro Acosta in 1980 in Chicago, worst cut I've ever seen. Acosta got an artery cut into or something -- you could see it literally spurting out like a hose with a leak at first. He was wearing white trunks. By middle of the fight, the front side were completely red. Somehow he went the 10-round distance and took a points loss. The cut, best I can recall, was on the outside of the left eye so it didn't affect his vision, but he clearly looked drained from blood loss as the fight progressed. This fight was on ESPN, btw.
I don't think I've ever seen blood spurting like that from around the eyes. Was it a punch that did it?
Tyrell Biggs' eye against David Bey in March 1987 was one of the worst cuts I've seen. They stemmed the blood pretty well but it was a deep flapping fleshy cut.
Antoufermo was all heart. Only seen a couple of his fights but that's the impression I got of him. I'll check it. Thank you
If you're looking for nasty cuts, you can look no further than Vitali's cut in the Lewis fight - **** me that was horrible.
Go to 4:30 Check out the depth on that cut .... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZyq3Pk1gO8[/ame]
Napoles-Muniz I -Jose Sulaiman and Mexican commission prolonged this one in the hopes Napoles could turn it around. The WBC allowed Napoles eveything in order to save his title. A low-blow fest in the 11th hoping Miniz would retaliate, swabs that Muniz was informed he could not use and enough medication, gel, vaseline that caused one scribe to say, "It looked like Napoles was hit with a custard pie." Until fianlly stopping it in the 12th probably from fear that one of Napoles eyeballs was going to shoot out and awarded it to Napoles saying that Muniz butted him in the 3rd and 5th round. Galindez-Kates I - Galindez' cuts were so bad that whenever the ref Christodolu would separate them, Galindez would make use of Christodolu's shirt and wipe his blood off on him. O'Grady-Watt - O'Grady catches a billy-goat headbutt in the 9th or 10th after having Watt almost finished in the previous round, which leaves a vertical cut down his forehead. The corner cannot stem the flow and it is stopped in the 12th. Scartissue
Yup! Sorry, thanks for the correction. I meant the first one. The controversial one where Saad's corner put the gunk in his cuts to stop them.
Whoa! You weren't exaggerating about the flap! That's serious. And Lou Duva trying to put vasaline on it and it opening..... oh man. Nothing a cutman could do there im guessing.
