What the hell did Vitali do to deserve a rematch? He went in there and got half of his face knocked off by an old, out of shape, past prime Lennox Lewis and was stopped in 6 rounds. How does that warrant a rematch?? It was clear who was the better fighter that night. There was no need for a rematch.

Vitali should be glad that they stopped it when they when they did and that he can still see out of that eye. Right hands were tearing his face apart. His face looked like bloody maxi pad. See exhibits A and B.

In conclusion, there was no need of rematch and Vitali was beat up and stopped in 6 rounds. Easy work.

    LENNOX TKO6 Vitali

Because everyone wanted to see a legitimate heavyweight fight in a division that was dying?

Or perhaps you'd rather there be no good fights at heavyweight, eh?

You know, the whole debate would have been so so different had the fight continued for another 1-2 rounds.

That eye was VERY bad and getting worse. Lewis was landing more and more frequently. The doctor saved Vitali's eye potentially. If Vitali really is a doctor like he says he is, then he would have understood why it was stopped. His fans on the other hand....I don't think they have the intelligence to grasp why it was stopped like it was.

For all we know, Vitali could have been knocked out brutally in the 7th, quit on his stool like he did against Byrd or just gassed out and stopped via TKO/mercy stoppage.

Then there would be no calls for a rematch no matter how game he was for the first FOUR rounds.

Vitali's entire legacy is built on a TKO6 loss to an all time great fighter.

Everyone saw a legitimate HW fight. An Old lewis bloodied and stopped Vitali in 6rds. What else was there to see?

LOL THE ******ATION AND DELUSION ON ESB IS EXTREMELY HIGH

The fact is that Vitali dominated Lewis and Lewis won simply on luck.

    As always,

Vitali fans saw their fighter do well for a few rounds before being stopped due to a cut. They wanted to see a truer outcome to the fight, and most have concluded that early success somehow equals undeniable victory; a horribly flawed conclusion but not without basis.
