just read up to this point in leonards autobiography, what a ****ing fighter he was, all the skill in the world combined with heart and adaptability. would love to see a talent like this emerge in these olympics but it just aint gonna happen.

So much more of a professional style. Back then, the amatuer ranks really prepared a guy for a professional career. SRL was pure class in the ring.

He was fighting a great boxer, Aldama could have being a Champion in the pro too, he KO the McCallun body snatcher a couple of times, heavy hitter

Back then it was no headgear, the only difference with the pro with the rounds... stevenson was knocking out fighters left and right, well he did the same thing with headgear too.

I just watch 18 years old Ramirez from Cuba, he look like he just can jump to the pro and make a career for himself, common kids we need the new wave and younger...

Leonard was one of the best boxers in history, phenomenal fighter... you can see his class & grit even here in 76.

defintely, you can have all the skills in the world but if you don't have the grit when the going gets tough (like roy jones) then you will get found out eventually.

ray leonard was the total package.

Am's today bores me flat, it's unrecognisable & a million miles away from my youth. What we witnessed with Ray in Montreal is & was how it should still be today but for some reason they've adopted this sword fencing approuch. When i was a nipper my old coach said the only dif between AM/PRO is or should be the "Vest" & yer don't get paid juxtaposed with never knowingly fouling. Today it's a most crushing bore to watch even live with this constant "STOP" yer never hardly saw the ref in that SRL clip, back then you just got on with it & let it all hang out.
