Are you in favor of the impending overhaul of amateur boxing?

on top of that it is bull that KD's and 8 counts dont get a reward of sorts

 

also most fights are decided in round 1

guy gets big lead round 2 and 3 are close and the guy wins based off of getting the early jump maybe getting the guy before he is ready or just figuring out the fight

the feeling out process has decided fights

 

I don't agree with removing headgear at all. Headgear is what makes amateur boxing amateur boxing. Plus, headgear does add extra protection, and these guy shouldn't be getting banged around like that too early, especially the really young ones. I agree 100% with the 10 point must system.

 

While I think the subjective way Profesoinal boxing is scored is better than just adding up punches landed. No change is going to fix crupt judging. Other than changing the judges.

 

I'm strongly against it, the amateur sport must not become a carbon copy of the pros. I like the differences, and want them to remain.

 

Well, this is kind of stupid...boxing is different, and the pro and and amateur levels should be treated as such. Amateur boxing is more or less about training to become a pro...it's not a whole other sport.

 

Amateur scoring is fairer and much less subjective , a bad move IMO

 

Headgear

Cons: Cuts and damage will increase, leading to fighters dropping out of competitions. Not what we want I'm afraid.

Pros: Taking off the headgear will make fighters more recognisable, perhaps making it easier for people to identify the fighter and therefore help promote the sport.

10 Point scoring system

Pros: I believe the introduction will lead to more crowd pleading styles and therefore contests.

Cons: The 10 point system will be open to much more subjectivity. Controversy will perhaps increase, instead of decrease. It will be much more difficult to hold judges to account.


I feel that the system at present is fine, and agree that it is those who run it that are at fault. The 10 point system will lead to more entertaining bouts, but it won't end the controversial scoring.

 

You Yanks make laugh. The reason we have the present system is because of Roy Jones in the Olympics. Now you want to change it back.

 

You don't get extra points for a standing 8 count. Khytrov would have got 1 point for the clean blow that landed but thats it so the ref calling a 8 count doesnt matter. You and Teddy Atlas dont know ****.

Fighting 5 fights in one week swelling is almost unavoidable.

Hockey in international vs NHL has some significant rule differences. Boxing is a combat sport and its done to protect the fighters more.

+1 That's the most obvious thing that needs to be changed.

Plus they shouldn't give standing 8 counts just cuz a good punch lands they should be able to follow up and try to drop their opponent. The way it is now the only way you can really knock a guy down is with 1 clean punch.

 

no headgear is much much better imo. cuts happen of course but less decisions, more tko's and KO's is worth a few cuts.

10 point must system is just as easily corrupted so it won't change bad decisions but it will make fights more exciting because people won't just be looking to land the highest amount of shoe shining pity patter punches, they'll actually be trying hurt muther****ers and set traps and ****. Much better.

Both good changes but still something needs to be done about the corruption
