Who does Wlad have to beat in the next 2-3 years to move up to top 5-10 ATG?

I'm a numbers guy, so 9 victories means that he is 67-3. Which means he has 21 straight title defenses (26 in total if you count the WBO - which most boxing publications do).

Are you going to tell me that the guy with the most/2nd most title defenses, one of the longest (dominant) reigns can't be # 3?

His KO % is one of the highest. His rounds won % is one of the highest.

He will probably grab the WBC title which would make him the

to ever have all the 5 major belts at the same time.

He has gone 61 fights with only 3 losses in a 16 year career.

I think it is about time to say this guy is one of the greats.

    Charr after he KOs Vitali.

In all seriousness he'd be replacing Tyson at 10 for me. Of he beat Vitali he'd take that spot, no questions asked, however as he's said many times before, this just isn't going to happen. If he takes out Povetkin and Solis (providing they have a decent career after the Klits) and top upcoming contenders like Price, Mitchell, Fury and Helenius I think I'd give it to him. Anything less and I'm not so sure, however it will all depend on what kind of career Wlad's next 4 or 5 opponents (if that) have after they get beat by him.

I would not only change their position, but i might move them a couple/few spots.

    1) Louis
    2) Ali
    3) Marciano
    4) Lewis
    5) Johnson
    6) Dempsey
    7) Holmes
    8) Foreman
    9) Tyson
    10) Frazier

he's an ATG no doubt, but he isn't on the level of the likes of Holyfield, Frazier, Foreman, Lewis let alone Ali, Holmes and Louis. He could make a top 10 career, but it's quite unlikely mainly to not having that defining name on his resume.

Sure you could argue that the likes of Tyson, Holmes and even Louis too an extent didn't have the big win but they lost too great fighters. Corrie Sanders, Lamon Brewster and Ross Purity are not great fighters.

Dempsey above Holmes and Foreman should be a criminal offense. The names in their are virtually the same as mine, however Dempsey would be taken out for Holyfield. What your list like from 11-20?

don't you guys see the futility of such madness, or tire of it?

2 points - "How can you continue to move great fighters in & out of such lists, replacing ALWAYS more often than not subperior over a superior fighters.

2cd - How can Top 10, 25 or even a 100 account for ALL the TRUE Greats your moving in & out, never mind the lesser known Great competitors???

I have never understood the contridictory nature of such lists and efforts.

    just Rate fighters - 10, 25 or 100 of whom you think is BEST, and thats more or less it... start with;

    Greatest Era's
    Greatest Champions
    Greatest Contenders
Greatest Cheated fighters (often the peoples champs)

and that is by far a more accurate & complete account of Boxing History!

these lists only change as newer fighters get added in, but the order of greatest, i.e beginning with Era's will usually keep those fighters at or near the top and the succession lists from there!

There isn't anyone good enough that elevates him as high as top5, he's basically just on a long dominant run, which is good, but against who? I rate this era higher than some, but it's still not as good as the 90s, 80s and 70s. The skill level in the division has declined although there are plenty of bigger stronger men. I can never rank Wlad

It's like comparing Ajax who win countless titles in Holland to Man United. We know Man United are better but win the title less because the division is harder to win

Having said that maybe you could have a case for him to be top5 when all's said and done

2 or 3 years leaves about 8-10 fights.

Some fighters, i think would elevate him. I dont know really where it would rank him, but to give himself the best chance of going to number one, I would choose.

    1. A win over Vitalis Conqueror (whoever that might be). Obviously the Vitali fight is not going to happen. But if Vitali is blown out and Wlad beats that person, it is as good as.

    2. A close points win over a fighter (preferably a young one) who is good enough to knock Wlad down in the early rounds and dominate,, before losing in the later rounds.

    3. A rematch win over that same person.

    4. A victory over the winner of an 8 man elimination tournament among the very best contenders.

    5. A win over an undisputed light heavyweight (or former Light heavyweight) champion. This is often laughed at nowadays, but more often than not the light heavyweight champion is better than many other contenders and can cause atg fighters problems. EXample Spinks Holmes, Tunney Dempsey or Conn Louis. Ideally, i would love to see Dawson fresh off a win over Adamek, if they were good enough to beat him. If not, i suppose adamek would be okay.

6 A victory over the next dominant champion. Hard to predict who this is, but if one of his victims goes on to be the next dominant champion he becomes much higher rated.

    7. Lennox Lewis - Well Jack Johnson had his Jim Jeffries for name value. it clearly would help.

    8. Evander Holyfield - Not really as bad as it sounds, particularly if Holyfield scraped together one or two decent scalps to earn the shot.

    9. Povetkin - I do think he is the best fight out there at the moment and really this is the fight that should be made.

    10. Valuev - Well maybe not necessarilly him, but he is the only decent fighter i could think of with decent skills, a decent record and a size advantage over Wlad. It really is a shame that they didnt fight earlier, even though i dont give Valuev much chance.

Vitali is long past it. He's really just one of the rest, he doesn't hold a strong #2 place imo.

I think Wladimir just has to carry on beating the men they put in front of him. He's already in the same category as Lennox Lewis, imo.
