This was such a great scrap ..That version of Spinks vs a prime Jones would have been a treat to see ..

RJJr on points, spinks could take him out with a big shot though, 60/40 jones imo

 

I pick Spinks as well... Do you see Spinks knocking him out like Tarver did? Or do you see a great fight with Roy having success until Spinks catches him clean?

 

You pretty much just admitted you have little boxing knowledge, and your opinion on this mythical match up does not matter.:deal

 

Jones is just too fast for SPinks. I think SPinks is the better overall 175 pounder, but Jones is the wrong match up. The only edge SPinks has is power, and then only slightly.

Someone else mention Foster. I pick him to beat Jones. That jab, and reaching power. Nightmare for Jones.

Remove BALCO from the scenario and it's easily Spinks.

 

RJJ was 35, way past his prime. We are assuming he's near his prime for this matchup aren't we?

Roy was best at 168 I think. Spinks was too long with a good jab and punching power. I don't buy into all the RJJ glass jaw bull**** the butt hurt Euro Calslappy fan's are pushing. prime Jones was down only once, just like prime Leonard was only down once. I liked RJJ a lot and his speed would give Spinks something to think about and possibly some problems early, but I see Spinks' jab and long right hand starting to find a home. Spinks by close UD probably 7 rounds to 5. I will say this, neither guy beats Bob Foster IMO....

I think it would have been a great fight.

But I think you'd have to choose a version of Roy from his absolute peak, from the mid 90's, when he fought at 168.

His fight night weight at 168, was around 175 pounds. Spinks and Foster etc had same day weigh ins and fought at around 175 pounds in the 70's and 80's.

So for me, it would had to have been the Toney version. The Toney version of Roy was completely different to the Tarver version.

I think it would have been intriguing, but I'd have favoured Roy.

A Bob Foster fight would also have been a treat to watch. A highly dangerous fight for Roy, but his speed would have troubled Foster.

Who would have won between Spinks and Foster?
