Ogogo lost to the Brazilian in the worlds, but don't forget his shoulder was in bits. He's got two good arms this time, so definitely has a shot. Anthony is a really nice lad, he'll know all about the result in the second fight being 'lucky' but he'll also be the first to tell you that you need a bit of luck sometimes, and given what he's gone through, i'm not begrudging him this. Would really like to see him be convincing in his next fight though, not be on the end of another questionable score.
well to be fair I saw people posting before that he was going to walk to the gold medal and spark out Price, Fury and Haye in his first 3 fights. ok... maybe thats an exaggeration, but people went way overboard.
He is a great talent, he has under performed in 1 fight against a world class opponent, people have swung too much in the other direction now. Vastly underrating him.
If he's lucky he will be the losing half of eliminator style fights. A dimitrenko sort of guy, Dallas was overly harsh i'll grant you that.
and it wasn't a close fight, savon got robbed blind. also nobody was calling savon "arguably the best amateur in the world" before he fought Joshua, all the talk was about Tony, Cammarale and Abusmalov Savon was an honourable mention at best
Well Joshua has beat Cammerelle and won a silver in the worlds with very limited amateur experience. An average boxer does not win a silver in the worlds with the experience he has.
This. Maybe there was too much hype at first but the way some people go on about him now atsch The US superheavyweight who went out in the first round has been boxing as long as Joshua has (about 4 years) and he looked like a complete novice. He was terrible. If Joshua goes pro after these games remember he'll only be 23 unlike like Audley who was 30 or Price who was 26/27. So he's got time on his side. Whoever promotes him will just have to take things slowly, ignore all the critics who'll call for him to be matched tougher and just let Joshua develop.
The guy has boxed for just 4 years and people think he has already reached his level! the guy is a work in progress and truth is we don't know how good he can be. We should reserve our judgement give it a couple years and see where his learning curve is at before we decide what level operator he is.
