Of couse he would be an underdog to ward. He would be an underdog to any SMW and above. Hatton, while maybe not his most impressive was his biggest victory.
i'm not saying he ducked anyone. I'm just saying his resume is missing one. bad timing really. He just missed out on the prime mosley and de lahoya because he was in the lower weights when they moved up. Kosta fight could have maybe been one, but even he was coming to an end then. Obviously Manny a couple of years ago but we don't need to go there. And maybe Cotto in 2008. but not really cos cotto isnt an atg. The barrera and Morales would have been great but unfortuntely the4y were always a couple of weight classes apart.
Cotto was @ 140 when he fought Baldy, Margo is not only a bum but a ****ing cheating bum. people say he ducked Baldy when he fought Zab. Also, as you stated Baldy had a lot more to offer than Margo so why would he fight him instead?
My favorite is Augustus Burton. Floyd had to dig deeper in that fight than he did in all the others. The boxrec crowd might bash him, but Augustus had decent skills and serious heart. His greatest would be Castillo, who was well rounded, prime, and went on to a great career. Cotto and Corrales are right behind. I can't believe people give Floyd credit for the JMM farce.
IMO the Chico, gatti, and Marquez were all good fights where Floyd showcased his skill level and ability but I preferred the Judah fight. IMO Judah was a more dangerous opponent than the above mentioned, just as fast if not faster, excellent offensive and defensive abilities, good power and a southpaw. It was more a battle of wills until Judah's stamina came into question and I think that was a result of Floyd catching him with lead rights, and countering the **** out of him with check hooks. The low blows and rabid punches are a testament to Floyd breaking him down and frustrating him A very good and sometimes overlooked or underrated win
Mayweather fought Cotto like a man: at his natural weight, coming off a big win, and without any clear advantages. It was a legitimate fight.
Floyd drained and bloated his opponents and had advantages what the **** COMPARED TO WHO? Cotto - Floyd came up a weight class - disadvantage Ortiz - No advantage, coming off biggest win ever (Floyd came off a layoff) Mosely - No Advantage, coming off one of his biggest wins ever JMM - Came up in weight - advantage (the only way the fight could happen) (Floyd came off a layoff), coming off one of his biggest 'wins' Hatton - 140 king, no advantage DLH - Floyd came up a weight class, disadvantage Baldomir - No advantage Judah - No advantage Corrales - Undefeated, p4p fighter, number 1 at the weight Castillo - Division above Floyd, champion Do you want me to go on? What the **** are you talking about?
Corrales was an amazing performance and i think i'm right in saying Floyd upset the odds in that fight too which made it even more impressive, but i think in terms of technical perfection people are overlooking his Mosley performance, obviously not his best win because he wasn't facing a prime Shane, but that fight illustrated the term "punch perfect" imo
