I mean what on Earth made you think that Rahmann would beat Lewis in their first match up? I think the odds were incredibly in favor of Lewis.
Jones vs. Tarver is the only one I could think of. Also Klitschko vs. Peter, I know people will say that, that wasn't an upset but everyone was picking Peter.
Everyone who knows me, knows I'm a big boxing fan, and I had been calling Holyfield over Tyson since back in the day when Tyson was undefeated. In those days, Holyfield was just making his climb from Cruiser to Heavyweight. Needless to say I was laughed at and verbally harassed by not boxing fans, but Tyson fans. There is a big difference between a Tyson fan and a boxing fan.....the types of fans I speak of dont particularly enjoy to watch a boxing match, but love watching a Tyson fight. There was one particular guy at work who jokingly gave me a hard time with my assesment that Holyfield would be the man to derail Tyson. .....in any regard, my heart was broken when Buster Douglas had the privelege to beat Tyson first. After Douglas beat Tyson, everyone thought it was a fluke, that same guy at work ragged that Douglas would destroy Holyfield.....I had a field day with him when Douglas did'nt even lay a glove on him..... Years went by before Holyfield got his chance at Tyson, my assesment to my co-worker who thought Holyfield woud'nt make it past the 2nd round was this....... "The only thing I'm worried about is Holyfield's stamina now, he's been inconsistent with it since his loss to Moorer. I'm worried a bit about Holyfield's stamina issues. However, I think that if Tyson does stop Holyfield, it wont be in the early rounds, more past the mid-rounds. .....and if stamina is not an issue for Holyfield against Tyson, he'll dominate him to the point of embarassment!" I was'nt that far off, Holyfield did'nt embarrass Tyson, but he did take over the fight and dominated Tyson down the stretch where I thought Holyfield might have stamina issues. Needless to say, my co-worker played the outcome down and avoided me for several days. He could barely look me in the eye!:yep .....and hey, Ambition, not much of an upset? I believe Tyson opened as high as 15 or 20-1 to beat Holyfield. The day of the fight the gap narrowed to about 8-1. There was a poll of 40 sportswriters and only one (Ron Borges of the Boston Globe) picked Holyfield to win....and just about everyone of those writers picked Tyson inside of 3 rounds. ......it goes to show just how much attention these writers pay to other fighters besides the top names....I agree, Holyfield should have never been that big an underdog. .....but that was a big upset, when you consider that people were concerned for Holyfield's health going into the fight.
40/1 to win, to KO Tyson must have been somewhere near 100/1! Assasin is probably not being truthful and just wants to brag a bit (no harm), a $5000 bet would have had him taking home somewhere near a half million!
Hopkins TKO or KO Tito, no body believed me! Also, Lewis over Tua, I knew better. Vlad's loss to Sanders. Only because I knew Sanders' career for many years and I also knew that Vlad was not prepared. It was not because of any defect of Vlad's chin, Vlad's chin is good. I posted this at ESB several years ago, also at Boxing.de, etc. Vlad does "not" have a china chin, that is a huge myth, created by American boxing media. US Boxing media can see nothing good about Vlad, just review all the past biased lies.
