They have done a fantistic job officiating these Olympics.

I am so impressed with how accurate the judges have been.

 

They are gonna run out of money (assuming they promised more money then the World Boxing Series thing), nobody cares about 4-6 round professional fights. The only way they can survive is for one of these corrupt central Asian countries to bankroll the whole thing so that their own fighters wins.

 

Very interesting. It is a well known fact that countries with no pro boxing background and TV deals can't properly build up fighters and host expensive world title events, I mean Golovkin signed with one of Europe's biggest promotions and 8 years into his pro career only a handful of hardcores have ever heard of him.

But these new events may very well be successful in countries with strong amateur background and well organized amateur associations, plus for the vast majority, winning a medal is much more viable than leaving it all behind and work for years to find out they either can't break through or the current pro system won't let them.

Most of you are from countries with rich pro history and kind of monetary background that a pro deal is a viable option for a youngster or they are forced to turn pro. But for most boxers of any this is not the case, and Lomachenko signing to be the flagship of this experiment when he could be filthy rich signing with any promoter shows how much he's into the sport and not into turning a quick buck.

it's a little disappointing though. It would be far more interesting to see Lomochenko go for pound-for-pound status in the pros. "Team boxing" in 4 rounders against guys he's already beat isn't that interesting.

 

No there will be 10-12 round bouts as well. I don't like it this idea unless AIBA allow their fighters to fight pros associated with IBF, WBC etc.

 

So basicaly this is the World Series of Boxing that they did the past 2 years?
I liked the WSB, but I think it's best for guys who are still somewhat young. Lomachenko is 24 a real good age to start what would likely have been a great pro career. Instead he will be simi-pro till he's at least 28.
